On the morning of December 6, bathed in the winter sunshine, the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the commissioning of the Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient Development Center at the Shijiazhuang Sihua Pharmaceutical Group’s Drug Research Institute was held at the new project site in the Shijiazhuang Economic and Technological Development Zone. More than 100 guests, including Qu Jiguang, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Shijiazhuang Sihua Pharmaceutical Group; Su Xuejun, Chairman of the Group; Sun Lijie, Executive President of the Group and Director of the Drug Research Institute; as well as representatives from supplier and customer partners, attended the event. The ceremony was presided over by Wu Hengyao, President of the Group.

At the ceremony, Su Xuejun delivered a welcoming address on behalf of the Group’s leadership team and all employees, extending a warm welcome to all distinguished guests in attendance for the ribbon-cutting ceremony. He stated that the establishment of the Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API) Development Center is a significant initiative for Shijiazhuang Sihua Pharmaceutical Group to advance its integrated “API-plus-formulation” model, build a new high ground for innovative API development, and accelerate its transformation and upgrading. The Center will closely leverage a collaborative innovation mechanism that integrates industry, academia, research, and application, actively explore new pathways for seamless integration and coordinated development—from applied basic research to product innovation and commercialization—speed up the organic convergence of the innovation, talent, industrial, and value chains, and focus on advancing the R&D and translation of core technologies and innovative achievements. Through these efforts, the Group aims to open up new avenues for win-win cooperation between production and sales, cultivate new drivers of growth, and accumulate new competitive advantages, thereby demonstrating renewed commitment to boosting the city’s biopharmaceutical industry through innovative development.

Su Xuejun pointed out that in recent years, the Group has aligned its supply chain with the innovation chain and leveraged the supply chain to enhance the value chain. In developing its active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) business, the Group has pursued “newness,” “high quality,” and “sustainability,” thereby establishing a phased innovation model of “developing a batch, commercializing a batch, and stockpiling a batch.” This approach has fostered an innovative API development landscape led by specialty APIs and supported by bulk APIs, with new products continuously breaking through traditional boundaries and gaining wider recognition. To date, the Group has secured approval for 64 API varieties and has 35 more in development, covering areas such as volume expansion, respiratory health, endocrinology, antiviral and anti-infective therapies, psychiatry, and innovative drugs. These innovative achievements are steadily moving from the laboratory to the production line, forming a seamless value chain and clustering into strategic clusters, positioning the Group among the domestic enterprises with the most diverse API portfolios. Its products are now exported to more than 30 countries and regions worldwide, serving as a trusted supplier to numerous well-known domestic and international formulation manufacturers, while the Shisi Pharmaceutical API brand continues to gain increasing prominence.

In her address, Zhu Chunxia, Vice President of Nanjing Zhengda Tianqing Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., highly commended Shisi Pharmaceutical Group for its remarkable achievements in recent years. She noted that over the years, Nanjing Zhengda Tianqing has established a solid partnership with Shisi Pharmaceutical, witnessing the company’s professionalism and efficiency as a high-quality supplier. In particular, Shisi Pharmaceutical Group’s exceptional adaptability and innovative spirit in recent years—evident in its strategic R&D initiatives in innovative drugs, improved new drugs, shortage medications, and treatments for rare diseases—have profoundly demonstrated the company’s unwavering commitment to quality and its boundless passion for innovation. She stated that the commissioning of the Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient Development Center represents another significant step forward on Shisi Pharmaceutical’s journey of R&D innovation, further strengthening the company’s independent R&D capabilities in the API field and injecting fresh vitality into the development of the entire pharmaceutical industry chain.

The Group’s API Development Center has officially been put into operation, greatly inspiring and energizing the research team. “We will fully leverage the Group’s API innovation platform, promote multidisciplinary integration, deepen ‘industry–university–research–application’ collaboration, and continuously intensify the development of specialty APIs such as polymer-based and psychotropic drugs, thereby extending the API innovation value chain toward the mid- to high-end segment,” said the head of the Group’s Pharmaceutical Research Institute’s API Development Center. The center will take serving national strategic needs as its fundamental starting point and ultimate goal, steadfastly pursue technological self-reliance and strength, and, with a spirit of urgency and proactive dedication, forge ahead with determination and hard work. By the mid-point of the 15th Five-Year Plan period, the center aims to become a high-level chemical API research hub with significant industry influence and appeal, thus making new contributions to the Group’s development and to the city’s biopharmaceutical industry.

To the sound of cheerful music, Qu Jiguang and Su Xuejun, leaders of Shisiyao Group, together with representatives of client guests, cut the ribbon to officially inaugurate the Group’s API Development Center.

Following the ceremony, the attending guests jointly toured the Group’s API Development Center.
