01 The ranking of China’s top 100 pharmaceutical companies is accelerating, with their overall competitiveness steadily improving.
At the 2024 National Pharmaceutical Industry Information Conference, the Group proudly clinched three prestigious awards: “Top 100 Chinese Pharmaceutical Companies of 2023,” “Best Industrial Enterprise for Pharmaceutical R&D Product Lines in China,” and “Outstanding Corporate Social Responsibility Case among Chinese Pharmaceutical Enterprises.” On the 2023 Top 100 Chinese Pharmaceutical Companies list, the Group ranked 51st, a five-place improvement over the previous year, further underscoring its enhanced overall strength.
In recent years, the Group has remained true to its original aspiration of “producing high-quality medicines for the people,” taking it as its mission to research, develop, and manufacture more “Chinese medicines” that are tailored to the genetic heritage and physical characteristics of the Chinese population. Through technological innovation and digital transformation, the Group has empowered the seamless commercialization of integrated innovations spanning active pharmaceutical ingredients and finished dosage forms, as well as the upgrading of the entire industry. 02 Innovative achievements continue to grow, with both the quantity and quality of applications submitted and approvals granted improving, significantly strengthening our core competitiveness.
In 2024, the Group obtained approval for a total of 82 new products, including 61 dosage forms and 21 active pharmaceutical ingredients. To date, the Group has cumulatively achieved approval or deemed approval for 148 specifications across 112 product varieties under the Consistency Evaluation program, placing it among the industry leaders.
The Group remains committed to an innovation-driven development path that integrates generic drug replication with original research and development, continuously increasing its R&D investment and advancing the integrated “API–formulation” model. It has strategically positioned itself in key therapeutic areas—including anti-infectives, respiratory, neurological, cardiovascular and cerebrovascular, gastrointestinal, anesthetic, endocrine, oncology, and dialysis—while actively building a high-impact innovation ecosystem. As a result, core competitiveness driven by a diversified portfolio of high-end, complex generics, innovative drugs, and specialty APIs is rapidly taking shape. The product pipeline is becoming increasingly rich and well-integrated, with robust reserves across multiple therapeutic categories, thereby establishing a distinctive product-chain layout and new competitive advantages in the industry. The Group’s R&D efficiency and output in generic drugs consistently lead the national pharmaceutical manufacturing sector, providing strong momentum for market participation and enhanced product accessibility, and powerfully propelling the company’s product mix toward higher value and greater innovation, enabling it to achieve a new leap forward.
03 Expanding new platforms for API development and accelerating the establishment of a new high ground for innovative API development
In December 2024, the API Development Center of the Group’s Pharmaceutical Research Institute was officially completed and put into operation, marking a more solid step forward in the Group’s efforts to deepen the integrated development of “APIs plus formulations” and accelerate the establishment of a new high ground for innovative API development.
In recent years, the Group has pursued new growth, higher value, and greener practices in its API business, thereby establishing an innovative API development framework that is led by specialty APIs and supported by bulk APIs. The API Development Center of the Group’s Pharmaceutical Research Institute will align innovation chains with industrial value chains, focusing on the integrated development of APIs and finished dosage forms. It will actively create closer R&D and innovation ecosystems that bring together industry, academia, research institutions, and end-users, while conducting in-depth research on specialty APIs, APIs urgently needed or in short supply in the market, pharmaceutical intermediates, as well as foundational, innovative, and forward-looking studies. The Center aims to build an API R&D and innovation base that fosters integrated development among industry, academia, research, and application, accelerate the establishment of a refined, serialized, high-end, and green API R&D and industrialization system, comprehensively enhance the Group’s independent R&D capabilities in the API field, and continuously inject fresh vitality into the development of the entire pharmaceutical value chain.
04 Thoroughly implement the “Quality Enhancement Year” campaign, with unwavering focus on quality to safeguard high-quality development.
In 2024, the Group launched a comprehensive and well-structured series of “Quality Enhancement Year” initiatives, with a primary focus on continuously elevating employees’ quality awareness and skill levels. The Group has made vigorous efforts to foster a corporate culture that champions excellence and values quality, ensuring that quality standards and best practices are deeply embedded in the organization’s ethos.
Since the launch of the initiative, numerous outstanding achievements that are replicable, scalable, and demonstrative have been attained in areas such as product quality control and quality-related technological innovation. Specifically, the projects “Quality Research and Application of Sterility Assurance Technology for Small-Volume Injectable Preparations” and “Key Technologies for Multilayer Co-extruded Films Used in Single-Use Systems (SUS) and Their Industrialization” were both shortlisted for the Third Prize of the China Association for Quality’s Quality Technology Award (Project Category); the case studies “Shisi Pharmaceutical’s ‘21235’ Risk Management Model Based on Parameter-Based Release, Ensuring Drug Quality and Safety” and “A Comprehensive Quality Management Approach Based on Green Manufacturing of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients” were selected as exemplary cases of quality transformation and innovation among chief quality officers of Hebei Province’s enterprises; and 11 QC outcomes—such as “Development of a New Formulation Process for Inosine Injection”—all won awards in the provincial selection of quality science and technology achievements. These accomplishments have further strengthened the company’s core competitiveness and enabled it to serve as a model and driver for high-quality development across the industry.

Guided by innovation-driven development, the Group is actively advancing integrated “API–formulation” operations. Leveraging new technologies and equipment such as the Industrial Internet and the Internet of Things, the Group is vigorously promoting digital transformation, empowering project construction and the commercialization of innovative outcomes, and fostering the growth of new, high-quality productive forces. Over the past year, a number of major and high-quality projects—including Phase II of the 312 Digital Intelligent Infusion Production Workshop, the High-tech Zone High-end Formulation Industrialization Project, the Bosun Medical Devices Research Institute, the API Development Center of the Group’s Pharmaceutical Research Institute, and the Development Zone Demonstration Project for Integrated and Innovative Pharmaceutical Development—have either been completed or are being rapidly advanced, accelerating project delivery and effectively driving the enterprise’s new industrialization while facilitating the transition from traditional manufacturing to smart manufacturing.

Shisi Pharmaceutical was included on Hebei Province’s list of leading enterprises to be cultivated for building a quality-driven province; the “Shimen” brand was selected for the second batch of Hebei Province’s Time-Honored Brands; a trademark of Bosheng Medical Devices was approved as a Jiangsu Provincial Well-Known Trademark; and the case study “Application of the ‘21235’ Risk Management Model Based on Parameter-Based Release” was recognized by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology as a typical example of quality improvement and brand-building in the industrial and information technology sectors for 2024. As a result, the Shisi Pharmaceutical brand continues to be revitalized and further enhanced.

In 2024, the Group took further solid steps toward green and low-carbon development: Guangxiang Pharmaceutical obtained Cangzhou City’s first carbon footprint certification, and Guolong Pharmaceutical was included on Hebei Province’s list of Green Factories. The momentum of green development is strong and unwavering, advancing with increasing resolve.
The Group aims to establish green factories and build a modern, resource-efficient, and environmentally friendly pharmaceutical enterprise. It has taken the lead in the industry in promoting and embodying the “green pharmaceutical” philosophy, integrating green development principles throughout the entire production and business cycle. Through technological upgrades and the introduction of advanced, eco-friendly production equipment, the Group is vigorously implementing green manufacturing initiatives, accelerating the establishment of a comprehensive green manufacturing system. Emphasis is placed on fostering green technological innovation and the widespread adoption of cutting-edge green technologies and equipment at both the R&D stage and during production, while also developing green, low-carbon industries and supply chains. The “Innovative Application of the Intelligent Pharmaceutical Operations Collaborative Dispatch Platform” was selected as a “Leading Innovative Application Case for Industrial Internet Platforms—Networked Collaboration” by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, while the “Development of a Manufacturing Execution System for Sterile Preparations” and the “Construction Project of a Hyper-Converged Server Cloud Platform” were both recognized as 2024 Hebei Province Benchmark Cases for the Industrial Internet. Furthermore, innovative application scenarios for new drug R&D were included in the “Top Ten Co-Construction and Sharing Scenarios for the Beijing–Tianjin–Hebei Region,” demonstrating how the Group’s innovative digital initiatives continue to empower the enterprise’s high-quality, innovation-driven growth.

The Group is committed to deepening the reform of the industrial workforce development, using the “Year of Skills and Labor Competitions” as a key initiative. In alignment with the enterprise’s “Year of Quality Enhancement” goals—namely, comprehensive knowledge acquisition, rigorous skills competitions, and significant management improvements—the Group ensures that wherever the enterprise’s development calls for, and whatever it needs, labor and skills competitions will follow suit, with competition objectives squarely focused on those priorities, thereby yielding positive results. The “Packaging Position in the Solid Dosage Workshop of Manufacturing Center 207” was awarded the title of National Model Youth Safe Production Post for 2023. In the provincial injection manufacturing skills competition, participants demonstrated outstanding performance, securing first and second place in the team event and sweeping the top five individual rankings. Additionally, they clinched first place in the Shijiazhuang Pharmaceutical Inspector Competition, bringing honor to the company and to the city’s biopharmaceutical industry as a whole.
