If the industrial economy is likened to a rushing “river,” then large-scale industrial enterprises are its “main stream,” directly determining the river’s overall flow and vitality.

In the first half of this year, the added value of industries above designated size in the city increased by 10.0% year on year, outpacing the national and provincial growth rates by 3.6 and 2.6 percentage points, respectively.

These impressive data are hard-earned. Behind them lies the determination and ingenuity of Shijiazhuang’s industrial enterprises to confront market challenges head-on, break through barriers through innovation and transformation, and the city’s unwavering efforts to expand the number of large-scale industrial firms while enhancing their quality and performance—efforts that have pooled formidable strength and underscored Shijiazhuang’s resolve and wisdom in driving industrial upgrading.

On July 26, at the Analytical Center of the Pharmaceutical Research Institute of Shijiazhuang Sihua Pharmaceutical Group, more than 100 high-performance liquid chromatographs were operating at full speed, while researchers seated at computer workstations outside the floor-to-ceiling glass windows meticulously sorted through real-time experimental data being transmitted.

Recently, a new Class 3 chemical drug—acetaminophen granules—developed by the institute’s researchers was the first in China to receive approval and is deemed to have passed the evaluation of quality and therapeutic equivalence for generic drugs.

“This new antipyretic and analgesic product has been meticulously designed with children’s medication adherence in mind, offering a palatable taste and rapid dissolution that make it more readily accepted by young patients—another significant achievement in our efforts to develop pediatric-friendly formulations,” said Wang Lijiang, Executive Deputy Director of the Fourth Pharmaceutical Research Institute, with great satisfaction. He added that the product has garnered widespread market attention immediately upon approval, and several distributors nationwide are already in active discussions with the company about potential business collaborations.

Since the beginning of this year, Sihua Pharmaceutical has continuously advanced its integrated “API–formulation” development strategy. By leveraging the role of innovation consortia, the company has accelerated the establishment of a “new-quality productivity” system driven by multiple dimensions: high-end, complex generic drugs, innovative medicines, and specialty APIs. From January to June, the company received approval for 42 new products, with both the number of applications filed and approvals granted exceeding the same period last year, thereby steadily strengthening its product pipeline.

Currently, Sihua Pharmaceutical has a total of 140 drug varieties and 186 product specifications that have either passed or are deemed to have passed the consistency evaluation. The company maintains a leading position among pharmaceutical manufacturers nationwide in both the efficiency and volume of its specialty generic drug R&D. Notably, 14 of these varieties will participate in the upcoming 11th round of national centralized drug procurement bidding, providing strong momentum for enhancing market competitiveness and improving product accessibility.

At the recently held 42nd National Pharmaceutical Industry Information Annual Conference, Sihua Pharmaceutical was once again recognized as an outstanding case among China’s pharmaceutical R&D product-line enterprises for 2025, further underscoring the company’s robust innovation capabilities.

In the face of ongoing and increasingly profound adjustments to market dynamics and industrial policies, Sihua Pharmaceutical is consolidating its strengths, striving for higher goals, and relentlessly accelerating and advancing research into innovative drugs.

Wang Lijiang stated that SYN045 tablets, a Class 1 innovative chemical drug independently developed by the company for the treatment of pulmonary arterial hypertension, has completed both single-dose and multiple-dose clinical trials with smooth progress. Meanwhile, the company is accelerating its R&D pipeline in key therapeutic areas with significant unmet clinical needs, including oncology, central nervous system disorders, autoimmune diseases, and metabolic diseases. Compound screening has already been initiated for projects such as a Class 1 innovative anti-epileptic drug and a Class 1 innovative drug for diabetic peripheral neuropathic pain.

“Developing and producing more ‘Chinese medicines’ is not only a responsibility but also a mission. Moving forward, we will stay firmly committed to our annual targets, redouble our efforts to overcome challenges, leverage the resilience of innovative development to proactively respond to market changes, and strive to make an even greater contribution to accelerating the high-quality development of Shijiazhuang’s biopharmaceutical industry,” said Wang Lijiang.

Digital Intelligence-Driven

Upgrading Equipment and Processes

Empowering with intelligence to enhance quality and boost efficiency.

In the height of summer, a visit to the production workshop of Delida Textile Co., Ltd., located in Gaoyi County, Shijiazhuang City, reveals rows of intelligently automated spinning machines operating in perfect order. “Smart robotic arms” move deftly between the spindles, autonomously performing tasks such as yarn joining, yarn dropping, and bobbin changing. Inside the cool, well-ventilated workshop, a small number of employees are fully focused, skillfully operating state-of-the-art equipment as production proceeds in a tightly coordinated yet orderly manner.

Founded in 2013, the company currently operates a 140,000-spindle ring-spinning production line, a 20,000-head air-jet spinning production line, and 120 vortex-spinning machines. Utilizing state-of-the-art equipment and technologies both domestically and internationally, the company has an annual yarn output of 100,000 metric tons, making it the largest polyester fiber yarn (polyester yarn) production base in northern China.

“With continuous upgrades to our equipment, ongoing advancements in technology, and a steadily expanding range and proportion of functional products, our core competitiveness has been continuously strengthened,” said Liu Zhanqi, Chairman of the company. He added that in the first half of this year, compared with the same period last year, the company’s output of polyester filament yarn (polyester yarn) continued to rise, and sales revenue reached RMB 250 million, an increase of more than 10% year on year, thereby successfully achieving the goal of exceeding the halfway mark in both time and performance targets.

At present, Delida Textile is accelerating construction on another new 300,000-spindle ring-spinning facility. “Once it is completed and put into operation next year, our spinning capacity will increase further, and over the next five years we will continue to ramp up production of high-quality polyester filament yarns, striving to become a leader in the R&D and manufacturing of polyester filament yarns,” Liu Zhanqi said with full confidence.

Coordination and Collaboration

Steady Growth in Value Added of Large-Scale Industrial Enterprises Across the City

More firewood means a bigger blaze; when the water rises, the boat floats higher.

In Shijiazhuang, numerous large-scale industrial enterprises are actively rising to market challenges, accelerating their transformation and upgrading, and enhancing the quality and efficiency of their operations.

Of course, enterprises do not operate in isolation. The broader industrial ecosystem serves as the “ecological foundation” that sustains the continuous development of the “mainstream.”

“Enterprises above designated size are the main force and vanguard driving the city’s industrial economy toward rapid, high-quality development,” said a relevant official from the Municipal Bureau of Industry and Information Technology. To support the swift and healthy growth of these enterprises and help them achieve the “double-half” targets, Shijiazhuang has implemented a series of measures.

— Strengthen operational monitoring and dispatch. Intensify monitoring of electricity consumption across all counties (cities, districts), key industries, and leading enterprises; conduct thorough analysis and assessments to promptly identify issues and respond proactively and effectively. Conduct on-site visits to each county (city, district) and in-depth surveys of key enterprises, enhance service delivery, pool resources to tackle challenges head-on, and support enterprises in expanding their production capacity.

— Deepening support for enterprises. Establishing a regular communication and coordination mechanism with businesses, conducting routine on-site visits, formulating measures to boost production and output, and thereby promoting stable industrial growth; organizing matchmaking events between producers and consumers as well as between banks and enterprises to help businesses reduce financing costs; providing guidance to enterprises on scientifically planning production schedules, optimizing and adjusting product mixes, and driving the industry toward high-end and green transformation.

— Strengthen enterprise cultivation. Adhere to a goal-oriented approach, focus on leading industries, thoroughly identify and nurture potential enterprises for inclusion in the cultivation program, and enhance both the quantity and quality of newly designated large-scale enterprises. Keep abreast of enterprises’ production and operational status as well as the progress of new project construction and commissioning, provide targeted support and guidance based on enterprise type, and strive to cultivate more large-scale enterprises.

Diligent cultivation will surely yield abundant harvests.

Currently, the city has 2,628 industrial enterprises above designated size, ranking first in the province. From January to June, the added value of industries above designated size in the city recorded double-digit year-on-year growth, laying a solid foundation for achieving the annual targets.

Moving forward, Shijiazhuang City will continue to implement a range of diversified measures to guide and encourage large-scale industrial enterprises to redouble their efforts in achieving their annual targets, thereby making greater contributions to the city’s high-quality industrial economic development.
