The crisp autumn air and the sweet fragrance of ripe fruits herald the arrival of National Day. On the eve of the holiday, the 2025 Shijiazhuang High-tech Industrial Development Zone Employees’ Vocational Skills Competition—Forklift Operator Event—officially kicked off on September 29 at Gree Electric Appliances (Shijiazhuang) Co., Ltd. More than 30 contestants from seven enterprises, including Shijiazhuang Sihua Pharmaceutical, Tonghe Electronics, Yiling Pharmaceutical, and Shijiazhuang Gree Electric Appliances, competed on the same stage, showcasing the superb skills and professional demeanor of industrial workers in the new era.
After fierce competition, employees of Shijiazhuang Sihua Pharmaceutical delivered outstanding performances: Duan Tao clinched first place in the obstacle-course event with an impressive time of 1 minute and 13 seconds, earning the second prize in the competition; Ma Xiaolong, thanks to a perfect score on the theoretical exam, shared the third prize with Li Qingsong, Xi Jinzhen, and Gao Xu.
According to reports, this competition is organized by the Trade Union of Shijiazhuang High-tech Industrial Development Zone and hosted by Gree Electric Appliances (Shijiazhuang) Co., Ltd. It comprises two main components: a theoretical examination and practical operations, designed to comprehensively assess contestants’ theoretical knowledge, precision control skills, and ability to adapt on the spot. The theoretical exam covers specialized topics such as forklift structure, operating principles, and safety regulations, while the practical component features two events—“Navigating Obstacles” and “Cup-Throwing”—with a strong emphasis on evaluating contestants’ precise control and consistent performance.
The atmosphere at the competition venue was both tense and exhilarating, as contestants remained fully focused and composed under pressure. With fluid, seamless movements, they demonstrated masterful skills—stability, precision, speed, and dexterity—in navigating obstacle courses and accurately placing small balls, earning round after round of enthusiastic applause from the audience.
After the competition, award-winning contestant Duan Tao stated that this year’s event placed greater emphasis on practical application, testing not only technical skills but also mental fortitude and the ability to adapt on the spot. Competing and exchanging ideas with his peers has reinforced his understanding that the pursuit of excellence is endless and has deepened his sense of the profound responsibility that comes with his role. He pledged to carry these insights back to his daily work, strive for excellence, and leverage his professional expertise to deliver greater value to his position.
In recent years, the company’s trade union has established a tripartite skill-development mechanism—comprising competitions, evaluations, and practical application—by regularly organizing job-specific training, skills contests, and mentorship programs. This approach has effectively deepened and solidified the development of a skilled workforce. According to a union official, the union will continue to deepen reforms aimed at strengthening the ranks of industrial workers, using vocational skills competitions as a key lever. By leveraging these competitions to promote learning and training, the union seeks to standardize operational procedures, institutionalize technological innovation, and comprehensively enhance employees’ technical proficiency and professional competence, thereby injecting sustained momentum into the group’s high-quality development.
