In recent years, to accelerate its strategic transformation and upgrading, Shisi Pharmaceutical has made substantial adjustments to its R&D structure and layout, focusing its innovative efforts on the research and development of major national innovative drugs and other key areas. To this end, the company has successively established high-end R&D and innovation platforms, including a postdoctoral research workstation, an academician workstation, and a Nobel Prize–affiliated workstation, while actively engaging in forward-looking, practical, and close collaborations with research institutions and universities, thereby continuously enhancing its R&D and innovation capabilities.
According to available information, liver fibrosis affects a large number of patients worldwide. It represents a common pathological stage in various chronic liver injuries; in severe cases, it progresses to cirrhosis, ultimately leading to liver failure and even hepatocellular carcinoma. To date, no effective therapeutic agent has been developed to reverse liver fibrosis. As the leader of the Henan Province Innovative Science and Technology Team for “Research and Development of Anti-Infective and Anti-Tumor Drugs” and an expert on the National Key R&D Program during the 13th Five-Year Plan period for “Major New Drug Discovery,” Professor Dai Guifu of Zhengzhou University has spearheaded the research and development team for the “Innovative Drug ADN-9 for Treating Liver Fibrosis” at Zhengzhou University, which has conducted systematic research on this project for more than a decade. According to the introduction, the innovative drug ADN-9 is derived from the natural product andrographolide and, through systematic molecular optimization and target-specific screening, has yielded a drug molecule that demonstrates particularly outstanding efficacy in the treatment of liver fibrosis. Administered orally, ADN-9 exhibits high efficacy, low toxicity, and multi-target synergistic action, thereby fully demonstrating the therapeutic advantages of natural medicines in addressing complex diseases.
At the signing ceremony, Mr. Su Xuejun, General Manager of the company, delivered an enthusiastic address: “We enjoy a solid foundation of cooperation with Zhengzhou University, and this signing marks a new milestone in deepening our collaboration and achieving mutual benefit. We are confident that, through the joint efforts of both parties, we will be able to establish research on anti-liver-fibrosis drugs as a model of university–enterprise partnership. Our collaboration is sure to yield substantial returns and make new contributions to the development of both the university and the enterprise, as well as to public health.”
