With the vigor and strength of the Ox, we greet the New Year—no need to spur the horse; it gallops forward on its own. On the fourth day of the first lunar month, as the first light of dawn broke and the resounding beats of gongs and drums filled the air, employees of Shijiazhuang Sihua Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., located on Zhujiang Avenue in the Shijiazhuang High-tech Industrial Development Zone, arrived at their posts early, marching with brisk steps after undergoing temperature checks and health-code scans. Filled with confidence, they set to work, sweating profusely to ensure a strong start to the Year of the Ox.

“The whole year’s plan begins in spring.” Step into the various workshops of Shijiazhuang No. 4 Pharmaceutical, and you’ll see employees bustling about everywhere; automated equipment hums cheerfully, creating a vibrant and energetic scene of busy activity at every turn.
“The recent epidemic posed a severe challenge to us. To further strengthen our service and supply guarantees in the pharmaceutical market, we must redouble our efforts after the holiday,” said Wu Hengyao, President of Shijiazhuang No. 4 Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. The company has made comprehensive arrangements for post-holiday production and sales, shortened the Spring Festival holiday, and asked its employees to make significant sacrifices in the process. Time waits for no one; we must quickly replenish inventory to ensure the timely and normal supply of clinical medications to hospitals after the holiday, with the goal of achieving a strong start to the first quarter.

At Workshop 104 of Sihua Pharmaceutical, the filling equipment on the sterile injectable water ampoule production line is running at full speed, with neatly arranged products rapidly emerging from the conveyor belt in orderly rows and heading straight to the packaging stage, ready to undergo the market’s “inspection.” According to Jiang Deguang, Deputy General Manager of the Shijiazhuang Sihua Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Center, in the days leading up to the Spring Festival, production lines were operating on a single shift due to constraints such as shortages of raw materials and logistical disruptions. These challenges have now been effectively addressed, and post-holiday operations have resumed with three-shift continuous production, fully committed to meeting market demand.
Next door, a brand-new theophylline injection production line has just undergone a GMP compliance inspection prior to the Spring Festival, and employees are now making the final preparations before formal commissioning.

Jiang Deguang stated, “Doxofylline Injection and Ambroxol Hydrochloride Injection are two new products that recently passed the consistency evaluation. Prior to the Spring Festival, they both won bids in the fourth national centralized drug procurement tender, setting a strong start for expanding production and broadening our market share in the Year of the Ox.” These two winning bids include exclusive supply of Doxofylline Injection to six provinces and municipalities—Hubei, Yunnan, Chongqing, Heilongjiang, Inner Mongolia, and Ningxia—and exclusive supply of Ambroxol Hydrochloride Injection to three—Shanghai, Tianjin, and Qinghai. Both products are key medications for treating respiratory conditions during the winter and spring peak seasons, with extremely high market demand; sales orders are fully booked, and many customers are eagerly awaiting inventory replenishment.

Abundant innovation achievements have bolstered Shijiazhuang No. 4 Pharmaceutical’s confidence and momentum for growth in the Year of the Ox. Wu Hengyao proudly noted that over the past two years, the company has synergistically advanced the R&D of innovative drugs and conducted studies on the consistency of quality and therapeutic equivalence for generic drugs, with a strong focus on optimizing dosage-form formulations. As a result, its innovation performance has risen to the forefront of the industry: to date, 14 product specifications have passed national evaluation and secured entry into the national centralized drug procurement program—half of these are oral dosage forms. Notably, cefdinir capsules and prucalopride succinate tablets both won first-place bids in the third round of the national centralized drug procurement last year, significantly enhancing the market influence of No. 4 Pharmaceutical’s oral products. This year, the company is also poised to obtain approval for several new flagship oral formulations. In the near future, the longstanding dominance of intravenous solutions at No. 4 Pharmaceutical will be reshaped, with oral dosage forms emerging as a key driver of the company’s future profitability.

“Diligence is the key to success in all endeavors.” At Workshop 207 of Siyao in the Shijiazhuang Economic and Technological Development Zone, employees have already completed their preparatory work by shortly before 7:30 a.m., leaving the production line poised and ready to go. With the “fast-forward” button for Year of the Ox production now engaged, more than a dozen sequential processes—from material preparation and formulation to filling, aluminum-plastic blister packaging, machine assembly, quality inspection, sealing, and boxing—are being carried out with precision, efficiency, and seamless coordination, ensuring the entire oral dosage-form manufacturing operation runs smoothly and systematically.

▲ On the fourth day of the first lunar month, the R&D team at Shijiazhuang No. 4 Pharmaceutical Research Center set out on a path of innovation for the Year of the Ox, greeted by the rising sun and the spring breeze.
“Our workshop is responsible for producing only those products that have won bids in national and regional centralized procurement programs, which involve large purchase volumes and tight delivery schedules. The more demanding the circumstances, the more rigorously we must adhere to process specifications—there can be absolutely no carelessness in the production process. We must ensure that every single product meets the highest quality standards and stands up to market scrutiny,” said Yang Yuxia, the workshop director. She added that the workshop faces a heavy production workload; failure to meet it would hold back sales, making it all the more important to step up efforts in the Year of the Ox.
