Stepping into Cangzhou Lingang Youyi Chemical Co., Ltd. in the Lingang Industrial Park of the Bohai New Area in Cangzhou, one is met with a lush, verdant campus and neatly organized workshops, creating an atmosphere of vibrant prosperity at every turn.

Youyi Chemical is a chemical intermediates company primarily engaged in the production, R&D, and sales of six major product categories, including methylamine, dimethylamine, trimethylamine, and their aqueous solutions. With an annual methylamine production capacity of 30,000 tons, its products are distributed across Northeast, North, and East China, giving it significant influence within the industry. At the beginning of 2022, the company was acquired by Shijiazhuang Sihua Pharmaceutical Group, which now holds 100% of its equity. Leveraging the resource advantages of Shijiazhuang Sihua, this small enterprise with more than 60 employees has experienced robust growth. In the first seven months of this year, its sales revenue increased by 81.4% year on year.

Innovation-Driven Accelerated Development

“Through independent R&D, we have completed 20 research projects, including studies on technologies and methods for recovering methylamine from wastewater, continuous production of methylamine aqueous solutions, and methanol recovery in methylamine production units. Among these, 15 scientific and technological achievements have been successfully commercialized, delivering substantial economic benefits. In addition, pilot-scale process development has been completed for five new products—dimethylamine hydrochloride, DMF, choline chloride, and others—resulting in the establishment of six high-tech products, with revenue from these high-tech offerings growing rapidly,” said Zhu Shujie, Vice Chairman of Youyi Chemical.

Research projects are progressing steadily, process optimization has been successfully implemented, and technological breakthroughs have been strengthened… In the face of a challenging market environment, Youyi Chemical has leveraged the technological and managerial strengths of Shijiazhuang Sihua Pharmaceutical Group to deliver a comprehensive package of innovation-driven initiatives. This has accelerated the transition from old to new growth drivers, propelling the company’s transformation from a traditional chemical enterprise into a high-end fine-chemical hub.

Strengthening the Safety Barrier to Safeguard High-Quality Development

Safe production is the foundation and guarantee for an enterprise’s steady and sustainable development. Zhu Shujie stated that upholding the principle of “safety first in production, safety first in profitability, and safety first in development”—in other words, embracing the “three priorities” mindset—is key to effective workplace safety management.

Since the beginning of this year, Youyi Chemical has rigorously implemented the Work Safety Law of the People’s Republic of China, fully assuming its primary responsibility for work safety. The company has signed Work Safety Management Target Responsibility Agreements with all departments and every employee, clearly defining work safety responsibilities and delineating responsibility zones. At the same time, it has established a comprehensive accountability system that extends vertically to all levels and horizontally to all areas, strengthened the dual systems of risk-based tiered management and hazard identification and remediation, assigned specific work safety responsibilities to individual personnel, and ensured that safety risks are proactively prevented and effectively controlled throughout the entire process.

At Youyi Chemical, smart equipment and facilities are ubiquitous, serving as an additional “safety lock” to ensure stable production operations.

“Through the iterative upgrading of production equipment, traditional machinery has been progressively replaced by automated and intelligent systems, thereby establishing a new safeguard for safe production,” Zhu Shujie explained. He added that, in line with continuous production processes, the DCS, SIS, and GDS automation equipment and control systems they have introduced enable real-time monitoring, intelligent early warning, and unattended operation. These systems also transmit production status and operational data to the backend in real time, allowing enterprise management and frontline staff to accurately track production conditions via mobile devices or computers.

Green Leadership: Building a New Engine for Development

In the face of new development trends, Youyi Chemical is committed to advancing industrial intelligence and green development. Guided by the business philosophy of land-use intensification, waste resource utilization, and low-carbon energy, the company continues to significantly increase investment in energy conservation and environmental protection, new-product development, technological upgrading, and information technology infrastructure. With a focus on upgrading clean production processes, enhancing environmental protection equipment, and improving automated control systems, Youyi Chemical is driving the transformation of traditional production models toward modern, precision-oriented operations, thereby striving to establish a benchmark for industrial progress and development.

“At the very source of product and process innovation, we place a strong emphasis on environmental protection, aiming to minimize the adverse environmental impacts throughout the entire product lifecycle—from production and storage to transportation, use, and eventual degradation,” said Zhu Shujie. He added that, during the manufacturing process, the adoption of a fully integrated, continuous, automated production system has enabled resource reduction and reuse, thereby establishing a well-functioning circular development chain. The company has successively obtained ISO 9001 certification for quality management, ISO 14001 certification for environmental management, and ISO 45001 certification for occupational health and safety management.
