With renewed vigor and determination, we set sail once more and embark on a new journey with unwavering commitment. At this critical juncture as we sprint toward the year-end targets, Shijiazhuang Sihua Pharmaceutical Group held its Third-Quarter Summary and Awards Conference for R&D Innovation on October 23 in the R&D Center Auditorium. The meeting systematically reviewed the achievements made in R&D innovation during the first nine months of the year, with particular emphasis on the third quarter, while also redoubling efforts and making further arrangements to ensure a strong finish in the fourth quarter and the high-quality completion of the year’s research and development objectives. Attending the conference were Group leaders Qu Jiguang, Shi Jianhui, Li Weimin, Meng Guo, Sun Lijie, Tian Pengmei, Song Mingxia, and others. The meeting was chaired by Wang Lijiang, Executive Deputy General Manager of the R&D Center.

At the meeting, the heads of the R&D Center’s various departments reported on the progress and achievements of key project R&D and innovation over the first nine months of this year, and put forward measures to ensure the successful completion of the year’s targets and tasks. Sun Lijie, Group Executive President and General Manager of the R&D Center, delivered a statement.

Since the beginning of this year, the Group has been driven by innovation, aligning its industrial chain with the innovation chain. Through systematic benchmarking and coordinated advancement, it has intensified R&D and innovation in generic drugs, innovative medicines, specialty APIs, pharmaceutical packaging materials, and products subject to consistency evaluation. Leveraging a series of national, provincial, and municipal policies and initiatives supporting the development of the biopharmaceutical industry, the Group has continuously increased its R&D investment, boldly tackled critical “bottleneck” technologies, and effectively accelerated the transformation of its product portfolio from a single dominant business to diversified growth, thereby moving up the value chain toward the mid- to high-end segments.

Continuous innovation in science and technology has enabled the Group to accumulate a robust pipeline of R&D achievements that are now yielding significant results. Since the beginning of this year, the Group has obtained 35 product approvals, including 26 dosage-form approvals—more than the total number approved over the previous decade. Notably, azithromycin dry suspension, buxanperine tablets, peritoneal dialysis solution (lactate–G1.5%), and pentoxifylline injection have each received approval as the first such products from a domestic pharmaceutical company. In addition, the Group has submitted 84 product applications to the national authorities, and a cumulative total of 31 drug varieties encompassing 41 specifications have either passed or been deemed to have passed the National Evaluation of Quality and Therapeutic Equivalence for Generic Drugs. The Group’s efficiency and output in developing specialty generic drugs now rank among the top in the nation, with innovation effectively driving improvements in quality and operational efficiency.

The meeting announced and commended the outstanding individuals and teams that made significant contributions to the R&D Center’s research and innovation efforts in the third quarter. Qu Jiguang, Shi Jianhui, and Song Mingxia presented certificates (and trophies) and cash awards to the recognized individuals and teams.

Qu Jiguang, Chairman of the Group’s Board of Directors, on behalf of the Board and the leadership team, extended warm congratulations to the outstanding R&D teams and individuals who were commended and rewarded. He stated that these achievements are both inspiring and uplifting, profoundly demonstrating that the Group’s R&D efforts are accelerating and marking a historic shift from “catching up” to “running alongside,” while also underscoring the confidence in the enterprise’s ability to forge ahead through sustained innovation and gradual accumulation.

We must firmly uphold our confidence in development, strive with dedication and determination, unswervingly focus on doing our own work well, and achieve self-reliance and strength in scientific research. He expressed earnest hopes for the broad community of researchers: First, we must guard against arrogance and impatience, maintain a proper mindset, recognize our shortcomings, benchmark against leading practices, work hard and persevere, and strive for even greater achievements. Second, we should draw from our confidence in development the driving force for innovation and the clear direction for our efforts. We must view R&D and innovation through the lenses of market orientation, long-term development, industrialization, and internationalization; make the first move in technological innovation; and continue writing a new chapter in innovative development. Third, we must consolidate the foundations of scientific research, elevate the level of R&D, make new progress in accelerating the development of innovative drugs, and proactively seize the commanding heights of industrial development. Fourth, we must explore new mechanisms and initiatives to deepen reform of research management. Fifth, we must achieve new results in speeding up the efficiency of translating R&D outcomes into practical applications. Sixth, we must let innovation lead and foster collaborative development: while strengthening innovation in key technologies and products, we must also coordinate and advance innovation in quality and technical management, production organization efficiency, and sales management, so as to jointly propel the Group’s transformation and high-quality development to new heights and realize new leaps forward.

The journey ahead is long and arduous; only through relentless striving can we succeed. The recently concluded 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China has outlined a new blueprint for national rejuvenation and further charted the course for innovative development. He warmly encouraged all R&D personnel to set out anew with high spirits, maintaining an unwavering commitment and an indomitable fighting spirit. They must bear in mind that empty talk harms the country while practical action strengthens it, remain steadfast in their confidence and work in unison, roll up their sleeves and work hard, press forward undeterred by any obstacles, and realize their personal value and secure a bright future by growing and advancing together with enterprises.

Upholding the spirit of vigorous striving in the new era, we will forge ahead with courage and determination into the future. The summary conference deeply inspired the vast ranks of R&D personnel, who pledged to embrace a sense of urgency, strive for excellence, and embody the ethos of “If not us, who else?” in order to continuously accelerate the progress of R&D projects, achieve even greater accomplishments, and contribute their scientific expertise to the enterprise’s transformation, upgrading, and high-quality development.
