On December 9, the 2022 High-Quality Development Conference for the Greater Health Industry and the 7th China Pharmaceutical R&D & Innovation Summit, co-hosted by Yaozhi Network and China Pharmaceutical Journal, opened in Chongqing. During the event, six comprehensive rankings of China’s pharmaceutical R&D capabilities for 2022 were officially unveiled. Shijiazhuang Sihua Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. was honored to be listed in both the “Top 100 Chinese Pharmaceutical R&D Comprehensive Strength Rankings 2022” and the “Top 100 Chinese Chemical Pharmaceutical R&D Strength Rankings 2022,” ranking 52nd and 40th, respectively.

The “2022 China Pharmaceutical R&D Strength Rankings” series is the result of a comprehensive statistical analysis conducted by Pharma智Net, the Expert Committee of the Pharmaceutical R&D Strength Rankings, and the Organizing Committee of the 2022 China Pharmaceutical R&D Innovation Summit. The analysis covers multiple R&D-related metrics for companies in 2021, including drug approval and acceptance data, R&D investment levels, clinical trial activities, patent filings, and historical rankings of pharmaceutical R&D performance—while systematically controlling for the impact of market and sales strategies on corporate performance.

In recent years, Shijiazhuang Sihua Pharmaceutical has been driven by innovation, boldly tackling critical “bottleneck” technologies and strategically expanding its R&D portfolio across multiple therapeutic areas, including antiviral, antibacterial, anticancer, central nervous system, cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, and anesthetic fields. The company has coordinated the development and research of generic drugs, innovative medicines, specialty APIs, pharmaceutical packaging materials, and products undergoing bioequivalence evaluation. Notably, over the past two years, leveraging a comprehensive package of business-friendly policies at the national, provincial, and municipal levels, the company has continuously increased its R&D investment. Supported by high-level innovation platforms such as the enterprise technology center recognized by five national ministries and commissions and the National–Local Joint Engineering Laboratory, it has partnered with renowned universities and research institutes—including China Pharmaceutical University, Zhengzhou University, Shenyang Pharmaceutical University, and the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences—to bring together leading pharmacological experts and academic leaders from both China and abroad. Together, they have established an innovation consortium led by the company, underpinned by universities and research institutions, and characterized by close collaboration among all relevant innovation players, thereby continuously building new competitive advantages, forging a new development paradigm, and creating fresh opportunities for the industry’s dynamic advancement.

Continuous innovation has enabled Shijiazhuang Sihua Pharmaceutical to accumulate a robust pipeline of R&D achievements that are now yielding significant results. Currently, the company has nearly 200 projects in development, including three Class 1 new drugs for the treatment of liver fibrosis and pulmonary arterial hypertension that have either been approved for clinical trials or submitted for such approval. In addition, more than 100 new products are awaiting approval, and since the beginning of this year, the company has obtained a total of 36 product approvals, 27 of which are for dosage forms. The company’s R&D efficiency and number of applications for specialty generic drugs rank among the highest in the industry. To date, it has filed 347 patent applications, including 192 invention patents and 16 international invention patent applications. Over the past three years, the annual growth rate of invention patent applications has reached 327%, providing a stronger foundation and a powerful engine for the company’s high-quality development.
