Recently, our company has obtained approval for six new peritoneal dialysis solution products: low-calcium peritoneal dialysis solution (lactate-based, G1.5%), low-calcium peritoneal dialysis solution (lactate-based, G2.5%), low-calcium peritoneal dialysis solution (lactate-based, G4.25%), peritoneal dialysis solution (lactate-based, G1.5%), peritoneal dialysis solution (lactate-based, G2.5%), and peritoneal dialysis solution (lactate-based, G4.25%).
Peritoneal dialysis utilizes the peritoneum as a dialysis membrane: dialysate is infused into the peritoneal cavity, allowing for exchange of solutes between the blood in the peritoneal capillary spaces and the dialysate. Metabolic waste products and excess fluid retained in the body are removed from the body along with the spent dialysate, while essential substances are replenished via the dialysate. By repeatedly infusing fresh dialysate into the peritoneal cavity, the therapeutic goals of toxin removal, dehydration, correction of metabolic acidosis, and normalization of electrolyte imbalances can be achieved.
Over the years, peritoneal dialysis has evolved into an essential component of renal replacement therapy, alongside hemodialysis and kidney transplantation, owing to its simplicity, convenience, and proven efficacy. However, compared with developed countries, the utilization rate of peritoneal dialysis in China remains relatively low, indicating substantial room for market growth.
