According to reports, this vocational skills competition for forklift operators in the High-tech Zone comprises two main components: a theoretical exam and a practical skills assessment. The theoretical exam covers such topics as the basic structure and operating principles of forklifts, safety technical requirements, operational skills, routine maintenance and servicing, and fault diagnosis. The practical skills assessment includes two events—“Navigating Obstacles” and “Stacking Nuts”—which primarily evaluate contestants’ proficiency in forklift turning maneuvers and angle control.
“When one’s heart is fully devoted to a craft, that craft will surely be mastered.” At the hands-on competition venue, contestants sprang into action at the sound of the starting signal, creating an intense and fiercely competitive atmosphere. With tricky turning angles and precise, steady, swift, and skillful maneuvers, they expertly used the forklift’s forks to stack nuts—one after another. Their cool, composed driving skills won over the audience, earning round after round of applause and enthusiastic cheers.
“This is a rare opportunity for learning, training, and mutual exchange. Taking this competition as a catalyst, I will stay committed to my post, summarize my experiences, identify areas for improvement, continuously enhance my operational skills, and do my utmost to deliver excellent performance in my work,” said Xi Jinzhen, a forklift operator in the Storage and Transportation Department of the Group’s Warehousing and Logistics Center, after the competition.
“The team members representing the Group performed exceptionally well, effectively showcasing the professional spirit and technical competence of employees in warehouse forklift operations. We must assimilate and apply the valuable experience and skills gained from this competition in our daily work, ensuring that we fulfill the mission and tasks entrusted to us by the Group’s development with high efficiency and high quality,” said Sun Chu, Deputy Manager of the Storage and Transportation Department at the Group’s Warehouse Logistics Center.
In recent years, the Group Trade Union has regularly organized job-skills competitions and skill-contests, while implementing a mentorship program that pairs experienced workers with novices to foster a strong culture that honors labor and values technical expertise, thereby creating a platform for employees to grow and develop their talents. Huang Xiaofeng, Chairman of the Group Trade Union, stated that the Union will continue to carry out vocational-skill competitions in a thorough and sustained manner, using these events to promote learning and teaching, further strengthen the cultivation of professional skills, support the development of a pool of highly skilled personnel, inspire employees’ enthusiasm for work and spirit of innovation, and continuously drive the Group’s high-quality development.
