According to reports, the Provincial Federation of Trade Unions has designated 2024 as the “Year of Skills and Labor Competitions.” In line with the provincial federation’s work plan for this year, the Shijiazhuang Municipal Federation of Trade Unions has planned and organized 38 city-level vocational skills competitions targeting the city’s leading industries and traditional pillar sectors. The aim is to continuously inspire workers to learn new technologies, deepen their expertise, and hone their skills through these competitive events, thereby fostering a vibrant culture of “striving to outdo one another in learning, teaching, helping, and surpassing,” and promoting throughout society the overarching theme of “glory in labor, value in skills, and greatness in creation.” Ultimately, these skills competitions are intended to serve as a powerful catalyst for cultivating new drivers of productivity.
At the opening ceremony, Shi Jianhui, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Group, delivered a welcome address. He stated that organizing high-quality vocational skills competitions for employees is a vivid demonstration of fully implementing the Provincial Federation of Trade Unions’ “Year of Skills and Labor Competitions.” The biopharmaceutical industry is one of the city’s five pillar industries, and injectable formulations are among the key dosage forms driving its development. Hosting the inaugural Vocational Skills Competition for Injectable-Formulation Workers represents a comprehensive assessment of the professional competencies of workers in the pharmaceutical sector, while also serving as an important platform to showcase the achievements of the city’s biopharmaceutical industry in pursuing high-quality development. He expressed sincere gratitude to the Municipal Federation of Trade Unions and industry enterprises for their trust and support, and urged all contestants to perform with distinction, demonstrate their highest level of skill, and promote the new-era image of the city’s biopharmaceutical industry—“China’s Fine Medicines, Made in Shijiazhuang”—thereby contributing the wisdom and strength of biopharmaceutical-sector employees to the city’s goal of surpassing RMB 1 trillion in economic output.
Subsequently, the competition judges and the representatives of the participating athletes solemnly took an oath to abide by the competition rules and to demonstrate both skill and sportsmanship.
Zhang Baoshan, a member of the Party Leadership Group and Vice Chairman of the Municipal Federation of Trade Unions, pointed out in his address that the biopharmaceutical industry is one of the two leading industries in our city that have taken the lead in surpassing the RMB 100 billion mark. The city is home to a large number of well-known pharmaceutical manufacturers at both the provincial and national levels, with Shijiazhuang No. 4 Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. serving as a major domestic leader in the production, R&D, and export of injectable formulations, whose scale of operations and market influence are of paramount importance within the national industry. This year, for the first time, the provincial and municipal federations of trade unions have included the injectable formulation manufacturing sector as a competition category, with the aim of further enhancing workers’ production and operational skills through competitive events, thereby elevating the standards of injectable formulation production and quality to a new level. He stated that organizing labor skills competitions serves as an important platform for strengthening technical exchange and promoting skill enhancement, as well as a crucial mechanism for identifying and cultivating talent, inspiring employees to learn new technologies, improve management practices, and upgrade their skills. By using competition as a means of training and learning, we can foster a strong culture that values and respects skilled professionals. The trade union will actively create platforms for nurturing and developing pharmaceutical artisans, ensuring that skilled personnel become role models of our times. He warmly encouraged all competitors to demonstrate a strong sense of ownership, learn from one another through participation in the competition, leverage each other’s strengths while addressing weaknesses, hone their skills, and cultivate the craftsman spirit of striving for excellence. By applying their genuine expertise and hard work to drive industrial upgrading, they will make new contributions to accelerating the development of our modern, international, and beautiful provincial capital city.
According to reports, the final round of the injectable pharmaceutical manufacturing competition featured 39 contestants from four pharmaceutical companies in Shijiazhuang. The competition consisted of two main components: a theoretical examination and a practical skills assessment. On the afternoon of September 12, all contestants took part in the theoretical examination.
On September 13, the practical finals for injectable pharmaceutical manufacturing were held at the Group’s Hanlin Biotechnology Laboratory, a venue that was clean, well-organized, and exuded a tense yet orderly atmosphere. Rows of meticulously arranged workstations were lined with a variety of reagents and precision instruments, while the contestants, dressed in standardized attire, wore focused and resolute expressions. At the sound of the judge’s command, the competitors held their breath, executed every step with expert skill, and carefully operated the equipment while precisely measuring drug dosages—every detail reflecting the pharmaceutical industry’s unwavering commitment to quality control and professional excellence. The competition area remained impeccably organized, radiating the captivating allure of skilled craftsmanship.
This skills competition has further inspired frontline employees across the Group to delve deeply into their work and rigorously hone their technical expertise. The contestants unanimously expressed that they felt immensely proud and honored to represent the company in the city-wide injection-formulation competition for the first time. They emphasized that the competition not only enhanced their skill levels but also strengthened their resolve and confidence in staying committed to their posts, serving the enterprise, and contributing to the high-quality development of the industry.
