【SUMMARY】 On the evening of December 6, Hebei TV’s “Hebei News Broadcast” aired the third episode of “Champions Show Their Skills,” introducing Bai Xue, the champion of the Injectable Preparations Competition at the 2024 Hebei Provincial Workers’ Vocational Skills Contest and a pharmaceutical solution preparer in Workshop 208 of Shijiazhuang Sihua Pharmaceutical Group.

Skilled personnel are a vital force underpinning “Made in China” and “Created in China.” To highlight the achievements of the winners of the 2024 Hebei Provincial Workers’ Vocational Skills Competition, Hebei Radio and Television Station, in collaboration with the Hebei Provincial Federation of Trade Unions, has launched a five-part documentary series titled “Champions: Show Us Your Best,” which tells the inspiring stories of these individuals—masters of their craft, dedicated to excellence, and committed to upholding high ethical standards in everything they do.

On the evening of December 6, Hebei TV’s “Hebei News Broadcast” aired the third episode of “Champions Show Their Skills,” introducing Bai Xue, the champion of the Injectable Preparations Competition at the 2024 Hebei Provincial Workers’ Vocational Skills Contest. Bai Xue is a pharmaceutical solution preparer in Workshop 208 of Shijiazhuang Sihua Pharmaceutical Group.

The preparation of pharmaceutical solutions is a critical step in the pharmaceutical industry, requiring precise calculation of the dosages of various raw and excipient materials, as well as accurate control of key parameters such as temperature and pH.

Dressed from head to toe in protective gear, Bai Xue, a pharmaceutical solution preparer in Workshop 208 of Shijiazhuang Sihua Pharmaceutical Group, begins her day. The metronidazole injection produced on their assembly line is an antibacterial drug that demands extremely high accuracy in raw-material formulation.

“If the material we’re calculating is 10.05 grams, that’s exactly how much we need to weigh—no rounding up or down; it has to be precisely 10.05 grams,” said Bai Xue.

This year marks Bai Xue’s tenth year on the pharmaceutical-compounding team. She has prepared over ten thousand batches of products with near-zero error, averaging 700,000 bags per day.

Bai Xue said, “Precision—absolute precision—is the fundamental requirement for each and every one of us in the pharmaceutical industry. Only when the quality parameters of the drug in my blending tank are perfectly uniform can I ensure that every vial of liquid medication I fill meets the required standards and effectively serves the purpose of treating illness and saving lives.”

Although it may seem as simple as typing on a keyboard and clicking a mouse, achieving such precision for every single bag of medication is no easy feat. With production lines that are intricately interwoven and control valves scattered throughout, how can we ensure that every step of the process fits together seamlessly? A stack of blueprints by Bai Xue provided the answer.

“First, I manually sketch the floor plan from the computer. Then I take these hand-drawn diagrams to our work site to verify each pipeline one by one, mentally mapping out the entire flow path of the bottling system. This allows me to pinpoint exactly which valve corresponds to each step in the process when I’m operating it—creating a continuous cycle of reinforcement and deepening my memory,” said Bai Xue.

By thoroughly committing every pipeline and every valve to memory, Bai Xue has mastered the process—now it’s all about turning that familiarity into effortless skill. On the production line where she works, there are two dilution tanks at the end of the line that alternate in holding the finished pharmaceutical solution, thereby boosting production efficiency. However, over time, operators tend to repeat inspections on both tanks during sampling and testing, which actually undermines efficiency. To address this issue, Bai Xue designed a “traffic-light” device.

“Right now, every dilution tank is equipped with two indicator lights: the red light signifies that the sample has already been tested, while the green light indicates that the sample still needs to be tested. This way, during the sampling process, we can clearly track the production status of each dilution tank,” said Bai Xue.

“Everything must be crystal clear—there’s no such thing as ‘close enough’ in our work!” This is the phrase Bai Xue repeats most often, both to herself and to others.

“She is exceptionally meticulous in her work, always striving for perfection on the basis of mastering her craft through practice,” said Zhang Xuexue from the Formulation Center of Workshop 208 at Shijiazhuang No. 4 Pharmaceutical Group, when describing Bai Xue.

Thanks to this unwavering, decade-long work ethic, Bai Xue has continuously grown and honed her exceptional skills, ultimately securing first place in the Injection Preparation category at the 2024 Hebei Provincial Workers’ Vocational Skills Competition.

“Every drop of medicine we produce is destined to enter patients’ bodies and safeguard human health—perhaps even my friends and family will rely on it. I feel deeply proud and honored to be able to manufacture such high-quality products,” said Bai Xue.
