【SUMMARY】 On the afternoon of January 25, the conference room of the API Development Center at the Group’s Pharmaceutical Research Institute was beautifully decorated with lanterns and streamers, filled with the fragrant aroma of tea and a warm, welcoming atmosphere, as the Group’s New Year symposium for scientific and technical personnel was held there. Leaders from the Group, including Su Xuejun, Wu Hengyao, Shi Jianhui, Han Shuqin, Yu Zhou, and Huang Xiaofeng, joined scientists and engineers from front-line departments such as research and development, production quality, technical certification, engineering equipment, and information technology construction to discuss future development, celebrate the arrival of the New Year, and, on behalf of the Group’s Board of Directors, Party Committee, and trade union, extend New Year greetings to all scientific and technical personnel, as well as to all employees and their families!

As the Spring Festival draws near, Shijiazhuang Sihua Pharmaceutical Group held a symposium for its scientific and technical personnel to celebrate the New Year.

On the afternoon of January 25, the conference room of the API Development Center at the Group’s Pharmaceutical Research Institute was beautifully decorated with lanterns and streamers, filled with the fragrant aroma of tea and a warm, welcoming atmosphere, as the Group’s New Year symposium for scientific and technical personnel was held there. Leaders from the Group, including Su Xuejun, Wu Hengyao, Shi Jianhui, Han Shuqin, Yu Zhou, and Huang Xiaofeng, joined scientists and engineers from front-line departments such as research and development, production quality, technical certification, engineering equipment, and information technology construction to discuss future development, celebrate the arrival of the New Year, and, on behalf of the Group’s Board of Directors, Party Committee, and trade union, extend New Year greetings to all scientific and technical personnel, as well as to all employees and their families!

Right at the start of the symposium, Dr. Tong Qiaolin, a holder of Shijiazhuang City’s Talent Green Card Type A and head of the Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient Development Center at the Group’s Pharmaceutical Research Institute, arrived in the conference room straight from the production workshop—still in his work uniform—and was immediately singled out by the moderator as soon as he took his seat.

“The Group is vigorously pursuing integrated development of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) and finished dosage forms, making API development a top priority in our R&D efforts. As an R&D professional, this presents both challenges and a platform to apply our expertise and seize new opportunities.” Tong Qiaolin, known for his reserved demeanor and unwavering focus on scientific research, speaks with remarkable enthusiasm when the topic turns to innovation. “Enhancing R&D efficiency while maintaining rigorous quality and cost control are the keys to success today. Effective R&D management requires targeted strategies, including well-designed experimental protocols, clear pathways for process breakthroughs, and careful selection and procurement of starting materials.” Over the more than five years since joining the Group, Tong Qiaolin has led his team in round-the-clock, relentless efforts. Under his leadership, more than ten APIs that he has spearheaded the development of and secured regulatory approval for have now entered industrial-scale production; he has also filed six invention patent applications and contributed to the formulation of seven national standards.

Tang Shanliang is a “son-in-law of Shijiazhuang” who settled in the city after earning his doctorate. “Shijiazhuang boasts exceptionally favorable talent policies, and I am particularly impressed by the research environment and academic atmosphere at Sihua Pharmaceutical. Working and living here makes me feel both secure and happy.” Picking up where Tong Qiaolin left off, Tang Shanliang drew on his more than a year of professional experience to share his insights and offer recommendations on such key areas as overcoming patent barriers, strengthening team building, pursuing process innovation, and developing an information database. His unwavering commitment to serving the country through science and technology was evident throughout his remarks, earning him enthusiastic applause from the audience.

Innovation is both a commitment and a hopeful vision for the future of our enterprise. Chairman Su Xuejun remarked with deep conviction: “Achievements are built on talent, and enterprises thrive through it. The innovative development of our company is inseparable from the mutual dedication of our vast ranks of scientific and technological professionals. Sound mechanisms foster strong teams, and strong teams deliver outstanding results. Over the past two years, our group’s R&D personnel have embraced innovation with relentless energy, bolstering our confidence and providing us with even greater momentum to accelerate our growth!”

It is precisely because of a group of young scientific and technological professionals at the Group—such as Sun Lijie, Xia Guolong, Wei Saili, and Tong Qiaolin—who devote themselves wholeheartedly with an unwavering spirit of scientific inquiry that the Group has achieved industry-renowned results: in 2024, the Group secured approval for 82 new products, including 61 dosage forms and 21 active pharmaceutical ingredients, placing it among the leaders in China’s pharmaceutical industry in terms of both the number of R&D applications submitted and those approved. To date, a total of 115 product varieties comprising 153 specifications have either passed or been deemed to have passed the consistency evaluation. These new products are strung together like beads on a necklace, and when linked, they create a powerful momentum.

As soon as the discussion was initiated, participants eagerly shared their views on accelerating corporate innovation, creating a lively and spirited atmosphere. To implement the innovation-driven development strategy and expedite the integrated development of “active pharmaceutical ingredients plus finished dosage forms,” it is imperative to firmly grasp technological innovation as the key leverage. Drawing on their frontline experience across the Group’s various business units, technical professionals engaged in candid dialogue, offering practical insights, sound recommendations, and effective measures centered on talent development, quality enhancement, cost control, and digital transformation.

“Scientific research must be forward-looking, with stronger organic alignment to market needs, striving to strike a balance among quality, efficiency, risk, and cost.” “We must place great emphasis on building innovation consortia, leveraging the talent and technological strengths of world-class universities and research institutes to accelerate the research and development of innovative drugs and continuously elevate enterprises’ innovation capabilities.” “We should further strengthen the development of AI-assisted platforms for new drug discovery and development, advancing areas such as drug target identification and validation, AI-supported drug molecule design and optimization, and compound screening…”

A delicate whiff of tea fragrance gently permeates the heart and soul. Each pragmatic topic and each well-considered suggestion deeply resonated with the group leaders attending the symposium, who frequently engaged in lively exchanges with the scientific and technical personnel, carefully listening to and responding to their concerns, while meticulously recording all opinions and suggestions in their notebooks.

“We will translate every suggestion into concrete improvement measures and integrate every sound proposal into our day-to-day efforts to drive innovation and development. By 2025, we aim to elevate our product innovation and technological advancement to a whole new level.” The R&D, technology, production, quality, and other senior leaders in attendance responded promptly, igniting the innovative enthusiasm of the attending technical professionals. Applause broke out repeatedly, turning the New Year symposium into a veritable “Strategist’s Council” for advancing corporate innovation.
