Flowers Presented to the “Lei Fengs Around Us”

On the occasion of Lei Feng Memorial Day, at the behest of the Municipal Party Committee’s Social Work Department, the Municipal Civilization Office, and the Party Working Committee of the Shijiazhuang Economic and Technological Development Zone, we’re presenting these flowers to the ‘Lei Fengs’ among us.” On March 3, volunteers from Shijiazhuang Sihua Pharmaceutical Group’s “Flowers for Lei Feng” initiative presented bouquets of fresh flowers to the “Lei Fengs” in their midst, using this activity to carry forward the spirit of Lei Feng and spread warmth throughout the city.

Gao Yuxia, a lamp-inspection worker in Workshop 208 of the Second Manufacturing Center at Shijiazhuang Sihua Pharmaceutical Group, is widely regarded as a warm-hearted and caring person. In 2021, while casually passing by a blood-donation vehicle on a street in the provincial capital bearing the slogan “Voluntary Blood Donation: A Gesture of Compassion,” she was inspired to donate blood to help others. At first, her knowledge about blood donation was limited; yet when she learned that donating could save lives and lend a helping hand, her heart was filled with warmth. Despite her busy work schedule, she has consistently made time to donate blood over the past four years without fail. “I have now donated blood five times, totaling 2,000 milliliters. Starting last year, the interval between donations was shortened from one year to six months, allowing me to bring hope to even more patients,” she said. “As long as my health permits, I will keep donating—helping others and finding joy in doing so.”
Hou Liqiang from the Comprehensive Inspection Department of the Group’s Quality Management Center is also a volunteer blood donor. Since 2019, he has donated blood a total of six times. Even more commendable is that he actively shares his personal experience and stories about blood donation to promote public awareness of blood donation practices and highlight the importance of voluntary, unpaid blood donation. Through his down-to-earth actions, he embodies compassion and responsibility, inspiring those around him.
“Lei Fengs” are all around us—Yue Jing from the Quality Management Department of the Group’s Quality Management Center and Gao Taotao from Workshop 208 of the Second Manufacturing Center have warmed the hearts of those around them with their consistent acts of “returning lost property without keeping it,” thereby embodying the virtue of honesty and trustworthiness through their everyday actions.
The spirit of Lei Feng is passed down from one generation to the next, showcasing its enduring appeal. On the occasion of the 62nd Lei Feng Memorial Day, a “Flowers for Lei Feng” event and the launch of the “Shizhixing Shi” volunteer service brand were held on March 1, co-hosted by the Social Work Department of the Shijiazhuang Municipal Party Committee, the Municipal Civilization Office, and other relevant departments. The Social Work Department has established a dedicated section across multiple channels to identify “Lei Fengs around us,” mobilizing citizens nationwide to actively participate in uncovering and promoting these everyday heroes. To date, more than 1,000 such individuals have been identified and submitted.
