On the 21st of the month, the plaque-awarding ceremony for the Student Internship and Practice Base of the School of Pharmacy at Lanzhou University was held at the Pharmaceutical Research Institute (R&D Center) of Shijiazhuang Sihua Pharmaceutical Group. This event marks a further solid step forward in the collaboration between Shijiazhuang Sihua Pharmaceutical and the School of Pharmacy at Lanzhou University in advancing industry–education integration and school–enterprise collaborative talent development, with the two institutions jointly striving to establish a premier hub for pharmaceutical talent cultivation and injecting new momentum into the high-quality development of enterprises and the biopharmaceutical industry in Shijiazhuang.
On April 21, the plaque-awarding ceremony for the Student Internship and Practice Base of the School of Pharmacy at Lanzhou University was held at the Pharmaceutical Research Institute (R&D Center) of Shijiazhuang Sihua Pharmaceutical Group. This milestone marks a further solid step forward in the collaboration between Shijiazhuang Sihua Pharmaceutical and the School of Pharmacy at Lanzhou University in advancing industry–education integration and school–enterprise joint talent development, with the two institutions working together to establish a premier hub for pharmaceutical talent cultivation and inject new momentum into the high-quality development of the enterprise and the biopharmaceutical industry in Shijiazhuang. Attending the event were Wang Min, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Pharmacy at Lanzhou University; Chen Shiwu, Vice Dean and Professor; Sun Lijie, Executive President of Shijiazhuang Sihua Pharmaceutical Group and Director (General Manager) of the Pharmaceutical Research Institute (R&D Center); and Wang Lijiang, Executive Deputy Director (Executive Deputy General Manager) of the Group’s Pharmaceutical Research Institute (R&D Center).
Lanzhou University is a key national comprehensive university directly under the Ministry of Education and has been designated as a Class-A institution in the national program for building world-class universities, thereby holding a strategically important position in the national higher education landscape. The School of Pharmacy at Lanzhou University boasts a distinguished faculty and a continuous stream of academic achievements; it has been granted authorization to confer master’s and doctoral degrees in the first-level discipline of pharmacy, making it a vital hub for pharmaceutical talent development and scientific research in China, particularly in the western region.
Shijiazhuang Sihua Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. has maintained a long-standing, friendly university–enterprise partnership with Lanzhou University. In November 2023, the two parties formally signed a strategic cooperation agreement, committing to in-depth collaboration across multiple dimensions, including industrial collaboration, talent development, and the joint construction and sharing of innovation platforms. Since the agreement was signed, both the university and the enterprise have focused on innovative needs such as novel compounds and advanced pharmaceutical formulations, continuously carrying out a series of pragmatic cooperative initiatives. As a result, they have achieved a number of promising outcomes in areas such as leveraging respective strengths, developing common technologies, and conducting research and development on critical technologies, thereby effectively advancing the ongoing deepening of their collaborative relationship.
During the plaque-awarding ceremony, Wang Min, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Pharmacy at Lanzhou University, stated that Shijiazhuang Sihua Pharmaceutical, as one of China’s top 100 pharmaceutical companies, has achieved remarkable success in the research and development and industrialization of innovative drugs and boasts extensive experience in collaborating with universities to cultivate talent. This collaboration will leverage the School of Pharmacy at Lanzhou University’s robust research capabilities and Shijiazhuang Sihua Pharmaceutical’s production and R&D platforms to jointly explore an integrated “industry–university–research–application” training model, providing students with hands-on opportunities across multiple roles in drug R&D, manufacturing, quality control, and other areas, thereby fostering the development of innovative, application-oriented pharmaceutical professionals.
“This joint establishment of a student internship and practice base with the School of Pharmacy at Lanzhou University is an important step in deepening collaboration between the university and the enterprise and in supporting the Healthy China initiative,” said Sun Lijie. He emphasized that the company has always regarded talent as the core driving force behind its development. Moving forward, the company will leverage the base as a vital link to establish and refine a dual-mentor system. By capitalizing on Lanzhou University’s research strengths in medicinal chemistry, pharmaceutical formulation technology, and other fields, the company will build a comprehensive platform for student hands-on training, research projects, and the commercialization of research outcomes. This initiative will promote the deep integration of the education and industrial chains, enable mutual empowerment, and accelerate the cultivation of a cohort of high-caliber pharmaceutical professionals who possess solid theoretical foundations, robust professional expertise, and the ability to drive innovation in the industry.
Prior to the unveiling ceremony, a delegation led by Wang Min from the School of Pharmacy at Lanzhou University visited the laboratories of the Shijiazhuang Sihua Pharmaceutical Research Institute (R&D Center) and held a symposium on industry development trends and deepening the integration of industry and education.
It is reported that the first cohort of students from the School of Pharmacy at Lanzhou University who participated in the base-based internship program have already begun their internships at Shijiazhuang Sihua Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd.
