The delegation was accompanied by Wu Hengyao, President of the Group; Shi Jianhui, Secretary of the Party Committee and Executive President; Cui Yongbin, Chairman of Guangxiang Pharmaceutical; and Zhang Zanyuan, General Manager.

On July 8, Pan Guangcheng, Senior President of the China Association for Pharmaceutical Industry, led a research delegation comprising experts from the Engineering Technology Center for Harmless Treatment and Resource Utilization of Antibiotic Fermentation Residues under the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, the Chinese Academy of Environmental Sciences, Harbin Institute of Technology (Shenzhen), and other institutions, to conduct a focused field study at Hebei Guangxiang Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Shijiazhuang No.4 Pharmaceutical Group, on the topics of harmless treatment of antibiotic fermentation residues, prevention and control of emerging pollutants, and the development of environmental protection technical specifications and standards. The delegation was accompanied by Wu Hengyao, President of the Group; Shi Jianhui, Secretary of the Party Committee and Executive President; Cui Yongbin, Chairman of Guangxiang Pharmaceutical; and Zhang Zanyuan, General Manager.

During the field visit, the research team toured the company’s exhibition hall, central control room, and production and environmental protection workshops, conducting on-site inspections of key operational aspects such as corporate development and production processes, wastewater treatment facilities, and exhaust gas treatment systems. Pan Guangcheng commended the Group for accelerating its integrated “API + formulation” development model, particularly recognizing the remarkable achievements made by Guangxiang Pharmaceutical over the seven years since it began operations in areas such as technological innovation, the implementation of green pharmaceutical principles, and international business expansion.

During the symposium, experts from the research team engaged in in-depth and detailed exchanges and discussions with relevant leaders from the Group and Guangxiang Pharmaceutical on such research topics as trends in the API industry, the application of cutting-edge environmental protection technologies, the harmless treatment of microbial residue, the pretreatment of high-concentration wastewater, and the development of policies, regulations, and standards for the control of emerging pollutants.

Pan Guangcheng emphasized that this research visit is a crucial step in implementing the national action plan for the control of emerging pollutants. The association will integrate industry–university–research resources to advance the development and refinement of the group standard “Technical Specifications for the Harmless Treatment of Antibiotic-Producing Microbial Residue,” promote the establishment of green production systems by enterprises, facilitate the transition from “reactive response” to “proactive governance,” and support the formulation and implementation of the 15th Five-Year Plan.

During the symposium, Wu Hengyao stated that the company has consistently prioritized environmental protection and actively embraced the concept of green development. Moving forward, the company will collaborate with the research team to provide foundational data, further deepen cooperation with relevant engineering centers and research institutes, and explore advanced technologies for the pretreatment of high-concentration wastewater, flue-gas treatment, and the resource utilization of microbial sludge. By leveraging technological innovation to enhance environmental performance, the company aims to continuously strengthen its competitive edge.

The Group’s and Guangxiang Pharmaceutical’s environmental protection officers attended the research visit and put forward suggestions and recommendations on antibiotic detection in water bodies and the establishment of technical standards for emerging pollutants.
