Diligence brings spring early; now is the time to forge ahead. On February 23—the seventh day of the first lunar month—while the festive New Year atmosphere still lingers, all marketing professionals from Shijiazhuang No.4 Pharmaceutical Group gathered at the International Conference Center of Hutuo Hotel to kick off the Year of the Horse with a comprehensive and innovative “First Spring Training Session.” Breaking away from the traditional one-way lecture format, this training session closely aligned with the latest changes and challenges in the current pharmaceutical marketing landscape. Through five key dimensions—cultivating corporate culture, strategic guidance, compliance assurance, skill enhancement, and business refinement—it aimed to “recharge and empower” every member of the marketing team, with the goal of building a high-caliber, disciplined marketing force that understands policies, excels in operations, and adheres to ethical and regulatory boundaries. The training was chaired by Li Xiaoyang, Executive President of the Group.
During the training session, heads of relevant departments within the Pharmaceutical Business Unit began by sharing best practices centered on core business processes, with a focus on market strategy and marketing tactics, customer acquisition and management, access to online listing and market launch, regional market and distributor management, as well as performance-based compensation and talent planning. In terms of market strategy and marketing tactics, they provided an in-depth analysis of policy guidance and market trends, formulated differentiated competitive strategies based on competitor benchmarking, and reinforced product positioning and brand value communication. For customer acquisition and management, they shared proven techniques for tiered customer engagement, emphasizing precision service and continuous monitoring to enhance customer loyalty and deepen collaboration. Regarding the online listing and market access process, they systematically outlined compliance requirements and entry criteria, strengthened the alignment between approval and launch procedures, and thereby improved efficiency while mitigating risks. In the area of regional market and distributor management, they clarified regional division of responsibilities and performance evaluation mechanisms, bolstered distributor training programs and performance appraisal systems, and ensured channel synergy and comprehensive market coverage. The content focused on building standardized, replicable business models, supported by case studies and practical tools, to provide the marketing team with end-to-end, hands-on guidance—from strategy development to execution—enabling the team to respond effectively to market changes, enhance overall competitiveness, and achieve superior business results.
During the group’s training session, Executive President and General Manager of the R&D Center, Sun Lijie, delivered a comprehensive presentation titled “New Products Empowering Marketing” to more than 450 business professionals. He systematically outlined the achievements the company has attained in recent years through the implementation of its integrated API–formulation development strategy, with a particular focus on how optimizing the product pipeline layout and logical design has helped the company refine its product mix and enhance its market competitiveness.
In light of the requirements outlined in the 15th Five-Year Plan, Sun Lijie further elaborated on the company’s strategic roadmap for focusing on innovative drugs and high-end, complex formulations while accelerating its transition toward higher-value-added products. Through clear, accessible explanations and concrete case studies and data, he helped business teams clarify the rationale and direction behind the company’s product-portfolio upgrade, thereby bolstering the team’s confidence in driving innovation-led transformation. He emphasized that R&D innovation will be market-demand driven, with a concerted effort to translate the core principle of “innovation-driven development” into tangible, new-quality productive forces—providing the marketing “iron army” with the most robust “ammunition” to compete effectively in the marketplace.
Following the discussion on innovation, Huang Xiaofeng, Chairman of the Group Trade Union and Head of the Party and Mass Work Department, took up the “baton” and eloquently articulated the topic from the perspective of corporate culture: corporate culture is not merely a static system of beliefs; it is also embodied in the ability to dynamically adapt to innovation and market changes, requiring the seamless integration of the company’s vision with individual career development. Through interactive training sessions, core corporate values—such as “view yesterday as outdated and treat today as the starting point”—have gradually permeated the minds of marketing professionals, moving beyond slogans on walls and pages to become an intrinsic driving force that inspires everyone to “hit the ground running from the very beginning,” thereby injecting sustained vitality into product market expansion.
In the face of the ongoing and deepening implementation of new marketing regulations in the pharmaceutical industry, the centerpiece of this training session is “Compliance and Marketing Risk Management.” Heads from the Group’s Legal Affairs Center and Market Operations Center took the stage one after another, breaking away from traditional lecture-style training and innovatively adopting a “case-based learning plus compliance clinic” format. By dissecting recent high-profile cases in the industry, they provided clear and accessible explanations of the red lines for marketing under the latest policies, while also conducting on-site “diagnostics” to address common compliance misconceptions and challenges in contract negotiation that frontline marketing personnel encounter in their daily work. The training underscored that, in light of the current changes in pharmaceutical marketing, compliance is not a “tightening noose” that stifles development; rather, it is a “safety belt” that safeguards steady business growth. All employees must internalize compliance awareness and translate it into concrete actions, ensuring that both business growth and risk control are robust and well-managed.
In the subsequent session on professional development and social etiquette training, Liu Jing, Vice Chair of the Trade Union, and Mi Jingpo, Manager of the Academic Promotion Department, employed an immersive teaching approach. By drawing on vivid real-world examples and humorous demonstrations, they addressed the common etiquette challenges faced by marketing professionals in various scenarios—such as business receptions, virtual meetings, and academic promotion communications—enabling participants to master the art of winning through attention to detail in a fun and engaging learning environment. Attendees noted that, in today’s increasingly competitive landscape and with the growing prevalence of digital communication, strong professional competence and appropriate social etiquette are critical soft skills for enhancing customer experience and earning market trust.
This training session is not only an opportunity to update our knowledge but also a chance to refine our thinking. Through multidimensional and multifaceted innovative design, it continuously enhances the marketing team’s professional competence and overall effectiveness.
At the conclusion of the training session, Group leaders Wu Hengyao, Shi Jianhui, and Tian Pengmei each delivered statements, pledging to fully perform their respective duties and provide robust support and assurance to further unite and energize the marketing team as they strive to capture market opportunities in the Year of the Horse.
Tian Pengmei, Group Executive President and General Manager of the Strategic Development and Human Resources Center, stated that the Group will further refine the performance appraisal and incentive system for the marketing team by establishing clear standards and detailed implementation guidelines, thereby creating a quantified evaluation mechanism that rewards greater effort with greater compensation and recognizes superior performance with enhanced remuneration. Core metrics such as market development, sales performance, and compliance will be directly linked to salary, benefits, and career advancement, ensuring a precise match between effort and reward. This approach will ensure that the contributions of marketing professionals are fully recognized and generously rewarded, effectively motivating all marketing personnel to demonstrate initiative, proactivity, and creativity in their work and entrepreneurial endeavors. As a result, every marketing professional on the front lines will be able to focus on their tasks with peace of mind, pursue opportunities with confidence, and accelerate their professional growth.
Shi Jianhui, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Group, stated that marketing is the leading force behind corporate development and the lifeline for survival and growth—and, above all, the “rice bowl” that all employees of Sino-Pharm share in safeguarding. Providing service-oriented and caring marketing support to our marketing professionals is an inescapable responsibility of both the Party Committee and the Trade Union. Moving forward, we will further entrench the “big marketing” philosophy, stay true to our original commitment to service, act as a caring “family,” deliver heartwarming services directly to the front lines of the market, focus our efforts on addressing the most pressing challenges and concerns faced by our marketing teams, and enhance team cohesion and employee well-being. At the same time, we will establish a fair “race track” through marketing skills competitions to ignite a spirit of healthy competition; widely solicit “golden ideas” from frontline staff to encourage constructive input and drive innovation and talent development; and set exemplary benchmarks to lead by example, rally collective momentum, and comprehensively improve the quality and efficiency of our marketing operations. In doing so, we will provide all-round support to elevate the performance and effectiveness of our marketing efforts, ensure the successful achievement of our annual targets, and work together to embark on a new journey and make contributions in the new era.
During his concluding remarks, Group President Wu Hengyao listened attentively to frontline voices and extensively sought input from business personnel on product quality, after-sales service, and logistics, addressing each concern one by one. He emphasized that comprehensively empowering marketing efforts and driving robust performance growth are the core priorities for the company’s high-quality development—and even more so as we embark on a new journey in the Year of the Horse. In the year ahead, the Group will fully implement and deliver results from its comprehensive marketing strategy, enhancing the quality and efficiency of marketing operations while providing stronger support and greater empowerment. With regard to product quality improvement, the Group will continue to deepen its integrated “API + formulation” model, strengthening end-to-end quality control across the entire value chain—from raw-material procurement and manufacturing to finished-product inspection and logistics distribution. By leveraging three key competitive advantages—superior quality, operational efficiency, and cost competitiveness—the Group will provide the most solid product foundation for marketers to expand market reach and build a rock-solid foundation of customer trust through high-quality offerings. At the same time, the Group will integrate all internal resources—including production, quality assurance, logistics, and after-sales services—optimize collaborative mechanisms, continuously enhance market responsiveness, and make every effort to ensure steady progress and sustained breakthroughs in marketing performance, thereby helping the Group achieve even greater success and new heights in both domestic and international dual-circulation initiatives in the Year of the Horse.
“The whole year’s plan begins in spring.” A broad contingent of business professionals stated that they will take this training as a new starting point, tackle tough challenges with determination, press ahead under greater pressure, and, with a more professional image, compliant practices, and unwavering enthusiasm, head straight to the front lines of the market to strive for a strong start in the first quarter of the new year and contribute their marketing expertise to the Group’s high-quality development.
