On March 11, a delegation led by Fan Qingshu, Vice President of the Hebei Tsinghua Institute for Development, and Li Ping, Director of the Management Center of the Yanzhao Biopharmaceutical Laboratory, visited the Pharmaceutical Research Institute of Shijiazhuang Sihua Pharmaceutical Group to engage in in-depth discussions on deepening cooperation in innovation and development. Sun Lijie, Executive President of the Group and Director of the Pharmaceutical Research Institute (General Manager of the R&D Center), along with Executive President Tian Pengmei, attended the meeting.

Mr. Fan Qingshu and his delegation visited the Group’s Pharmaceutical Research Institute, where they gained a thorough understanding of the Group’s R&D strategy, technological advancements, and the commercialization of research outcomes in key areas such as innovative drugs, specialty generic drugs, and high-end dosage forms. Mr. Fan Qingshu commended the Group for its remarkable achievements in recent years, driven by innovation and deep commitment to its core pharmaceutical business. He also noted that Shijiazhuang Sihua Pharmaceutical Group’s solid industrial foundation and Tsinghua University’s robust talent pool and research resources are highly complementary, creating ample room and a strong foundation for collaboration between the two.

During the symposium, Fan Qingshu provided a comprehensive overview of the Hebei Tsinghua Institute for Development, highlighting its development trajectory, core strengths, and strategic positioning within the coordinated development of the Beijing–Tianjin–Hebei region. He emphasized that, as a central platform for university–local collaboration, the Institute focuses on key industries such as biopharmaceuticals and next-generation information technology, and has established an end-to-end innovation incubation system encompassing “scientific and technological R&D, proof-of-concept validation, pilot-scale maturation, and commercialization,” thereby providing robust support for the transformation and upgrading of regional industries. Director Li Ping then outlined the planning for the construction of the Yanzhao Biopharmaceutical Laboratory, a provincial-level R&D platform that integrates the strengths of Tsinghua University and other partners to build a full-chain R&D ecosystem in the fields of innovative drugs, cutting-edge biotechnology, and high-end medical devices. The initiative aims to break through critical technological bottlenecks and provide solid support for our province’s transition from a “manufacturing hub” for pharmaceuticals to an “innovation hub.”

Drawing on the current state of industrial development, Sun Lijie engaged in discussions on accelerating the Group’s R&D and innovation efforts. He emphasized that the Group is currently aligning closely with the 15th Five-Year Plan and stepping up its transformation toward innovative drugs, improved new drugs, and high-end complex formulations. Grounded in national strategic priorities and the Group’s own development positioning, the Group will proactively leverage top-tier research resources, such as those at Tsinghua University, to enhance its capacity for original innovation and strengthen its core technological competitiveness through deep collaboration, thereby injecting momentum into high-quality development.

All parties expressed their commitment to leveraging their respective strengths, establishing a regular mechanism for communication and collaboration, and capitalizing on the research resources of institutions such as the Hebei Tsinghua Research Institute for Development and the industrial translation capabilities of Shijiazhuang Sihua Pharmaceutical Group. They will focus on core areas including joint R&D of innovative drugs, breakthroughs in critical technologies, and the commercialization and application of research outcomes, thereby fostering deep cooperation and actively developing a collaborative innovation model of “joint R&D–Sihua translation.” Together, they aim to support the high-quality development of Shijiazhuang’s biopharmaceutical industry, ensure the safe and effective use of medicines by the public, and contribute to the innovative upgrading of China’s pharmaceutical sector.
