Recently, the Hebei Provincial Department of Science and Technology issued the “Announcement on the Final Review Results for the 2025 Hebei Provincial Science and Technology Awards,” under which the project “Key Technological Development and Industrialization of Raw Materials and Preparations of the Antiepileptic Drug Lacosamide,” submitted by Shijiazhuang Sihua Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., was awarded the Second Prize of the 2025 Hebei Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award.
Recently, the Hebei Provincial Department of Science and Technology issued the “Announcement on the Final Review Results for the 2025 Hebei Provincial Science and Technology Awards,” under which the project “Key Technological Development and Industrialization of Raw Materials and Preparations of the Antiepileptic Drug Lacosamide,” submitted by Shijiazhuang Sihua Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., was awarded the Second Prize of the 2025 Hebei Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award.
According to available information, the key technological development and industrialization project for lacosamide, an antiepileptic drug, has primarily addressed technical bottlenecks—such as low product purity, poor bioavailability, and the lack of specific impurity-testing methods—in lacosamide formulations by innovating intermediate synthesis processes, precisely controlling the polymorphic forms of the active pharmaceutical ingredient, and achieving breakthroughs in critical formulation technologies. These efforts have resulted in optimized process parameters across the entire value chain and enhanced product quality. The project has been granted six invention patents and has led to the establishment of three national pharmaceutical standards. Currently, the technological achievements of this project have been successfully applied to the industrial-scale production of lacosamide API, lacosamide tablets, and lacosamide injection, effectively resolving key technical challenges in the industry. This not only meets diverse clinical medication needs but also significantly reduces the financial burden of treatment, delivering substantial clinical benefits as well as significant economic and social returns.
In recent years, Shijiazhuang Sihua Pharmaceutical Group has closely aligned its strategies with market dynamics and national strategic priorities, steadfastly pursuing a development path that integrates generic drug innovation with original research. The company has actively implemented an integrated “API–formulation” strategy, accelerating the pipeline development and commercialization of specialty generic drugs, high-end complex formulations, and proprietary APIs, while continuously generating innovative breakthroughs. Since 2025, the Group has received approval for a total of 93 new “API–formulation” products, and a cumulative total of 166 drug varieties across 217 dosage forms have either passed or been deemed to have passed the evaluation of generic drug quality and therapeutic equivalence. These achievements have further solidified the foundation for innovative, high-quality development, providing strong momentum for the company’s next phase of growth and transformation.
According to the Measures for the Award of Science and Technology in Hebei Province and the Implementing Rules for the Measures, a total of 276 projects (or individuals) were recommended for award following the 2025 Hebei Provincial Science and Technology Awards review. Specifically: 219 projects were recommended for the Science and Technology Progress Award, including 28 First-Class Awards, 81 Second-Class Awards, and 98 Third-Class Awards; 4 awards were given for Employee Technological Innovation; 3 awards for Science and Technology Popularization; and 5 awards for Enterprise Technological Innovation.
