“Mr. Zhu, last night Leishenshan Hospital began admitting patients, and the 3,000 boxes of Arbidol we delivered to the hospital have already arrived. Please rest assured,” a representative from a Wuhan-based pharmaceutical company called Zhu Zhiyong, Deputy General Manager in charge of new-product sales at Shijiazhuang Sihua Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., early on February 9 to report the situation. This marks the first time that Sihua Pharmaceutical has supplied 3,000 boxes—totaling 72,000 capsules—of arbidol hydrochloride to both Wuhan’s Huoshenshan Hospital and Leishenshan Hospital for clinical antiviral treatment.
In late January this year, medical institutions and state-owned pharmaceutical trading enterprises in Wuhan, Hubei Province, and other regions contacted Shisi Pharmaceutical, requesting emergency supplies of antiviral Arbidol capsules and antibacterial intravenous infusions such as moxifloxacin hydrochloride sodium chloride injection.

Employees at the abidor production line’s blister-packaging station in the oral dosage-form workshop of Shijiazhuang Sihua Pharmaceutical are working diligently.

“What the front lines of prevention and control need, we will do our utmost to provide—overcoming every obstacle and exhausting every possible means to ensure the supply of key medicines for epidemic prevention and control, thereby contributing to the national effort to contain the pandemic. This is the responsibility and mission of those of us in the pharmaceutical industry,” said Su Xuejun, Chairman of Shisi Pharmaceutical.

“The epidemic is an order, and ensuring supply is our responsibility.” Upon receiving the directive, Shisi Pharmaceutical immediately adjusted its production schedule, mobilized personnel and raw and auxiliary materials by all possible means, and ramped up the manufacture of emergency medicines and products such as Arbidol Hydrochloride Capsules, Moxifloxacin Hydrochloride Sodium Chloride Injection, sterile water, and disinfectants. The oral dosage-form production workshop’s Arbidol Capsule line, tasked with emergency supply assurance, has been operating at full capacity to do everything possible to meet clinical and market demand in Hubei Province and other regions.
To secure Abidor raw-material supplies through multiple channels and diversify supply sources, Shisi Pharmaceutical urgently submitted an application to the Hebei Provincial Drug Administration for the addition of a new API supplier to its registration. In response, the Hebei Provincial Drug Administration promptly established a “green channel” to provide full support for the company’s expansion of finished-product manufacturing capacity. Following successful product testing, the agency promptly approved Shisi Pharmaceutical’s supplemental application to add the new API supplier.

Shijiazhuang Sihua Pharmaceutical has developed and manufactured the anti-influenza viral drug Abidor Hydrochloride Capsules.

Since January 25, the first day of the Lunar New Year, Shisi Pharmaceutical has cumulatively shipped 1.36 million capsules of the antiviral drug arbidol hydrochloride to Hubei Province, including 960,000 capsules destined for Wuhan; 268,000 vials of the antibacterial drug moxifloxacin hydrochloride sodium chloride injection to Hubei, with 230,000 vials earmarked for Wuhan; and 378,000 bags (or bottles) of sterile water and basic intravenous solutions, thereby providing robust support for the supply of essential medicines on the front lines of epidemic prevention and control.
