Shisi Pharmaceutical is a leading domestic manufacturer of large-volume parenteral solutions. Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, the company has ensured the uninterrupted supply of critical injectable medications—such as Arbidol hydrochloride capsules, moxifloxacin hydrochloride sodium chloride injection, and sterile water for injection—to frontline epidemic prevention and control efforts by implementing scientific production scheduling and maintaining 24-hour continuous operation. According to Zhang Sumei, Manager of the Human Resources Department at Shisi Pharmaceutical, with the support of government authorities and relevant social organizations, employee attendance has been increasing daily. The oral dosage-form workshop and all plastic-bottle infusion production lines are now fully operational, and through optimized production allocation and the implementation of a two-shift system, manufacturing capacity is steadily being restored.
“Despite the challenges posed by epidemic prevention and control, which have made it difficult for our sales staff to travel to markets and carry out their work, coupled with the substantial decline in outpatient visits and hospital admissions across various regions—both of which will temporarily hamper our business operations—these difficulties are bound to pass. Our core business objectives remain unchanged, and we are determined to achieve growth and deliver a strong start to the first quarter,” said Wu Hengyao, General Manager of Shisi Pharmaceutical.

“As long as the epidemic persists, we must maintain unwavering vigilance in our prevention and control efforts.” The company is simultaneously advancing epidemic prevention and production, rigorously conducting personnel screening and disinfection, and providing comprehensive training on epidemic prevention and control to its employees, thereby ensuring that the enterprise serves as a “safe haven” for pandemic containment.
“The most pressing task for our company at present is to ensure the production of medicines needed on the front lines of epidemic prevention and control; at the same time, we will deepen our services to revitalize and stimulate the market and accelerate product sales,” said Wu Hengyao. Currently, several designated hospitals in Wuhan treating COVID-19 patients are using Shisi Pharmaceutical’s products, including moxifloxacin hydrochloride sodium chloride injection, sterile water for injection, basic infusion solutions in closed soft bags, and the antiviral drug arbidol hydrochloride capsules. In particular, prior to the commissioning of Huoshenshan Hospital and Leishenshan Hospital, we promptly delivered 6,000 boxes of arbidol hydrochloride capsules as emergency supplies to these facilities. Recently, through participation in centralized procurement of emergency medicines, another eight makeshift hospitals now in operation in Wuhan have urgently requisitioned 32,000 vials of levofloxacin lactate sodium chloride injection from Shisi Pharmaceutical for clinical treatment.

According to available information, from January 25 to February 13, Shisi Pharmaceutical cumulatively shipped 1.5 million capsules of the antiviral drug arbidol hydrochloride to Hubei Province, including 1.1 million capsules destined for Wuhan; 268,000 vials of the antibacterial drug moxifloxacin hydrochloride sodium chloride injection to Hubei, with 230,000 vials allocated to Wuhan; and 560,000 bags (or bottles) of sterile water and basic intravenous solutions, thereby providing robust support for the supply of essential medicines on the front lines of epidemic prevention and control.
As a leading pharmaceutical company in the fight against COVID-19, Shisi Pharmaceutical has been involved across the entire epidemic prevention and control value chain—ranging from prevention and treatment to research and development. In addition to its traditional large-volume parenteral solutions, the company’s portfolio includes more than 10 products spanning five major categories that are contributing to pandemic response efforts.

“Ensuring the adequate supply of medicines on the front lines of epidemic prevention and control is the responsibility of pharmaceutical companies. We will continue to precisely align our efforts with clinical needs, further strengthen the procurement and supply of emergency medications, and strive to balance epidemic control with production and operations, thereby making the contribution that we at Shisi Pharmaceutical are duty-bound to make in securing a comprehensive victory in the battle against the epidemic,” said Su Xuejun, Chairman of Shisi Pharmaceutical.
