“When I heard the news that General Secretary Xi had visited the front lines of epidemic prevention and control in Wuhan, a wave of warmth swept through my entire body, deeply reinforcing my conviction that the Party Central Committee is always with the people!” Rong Yanyan, director of the oral dosage-form workshop at Shijiazhuang No. 4 Pharmaceutical, has been working nonstop at her post for more than 40 days since New Year’s Eve. She and her colleagues are tasked with producing urgently needed medicines for frontline epidemic-control efforts in Hubei and other regions; the more than ten million abidor capsules they have manufactured have become a powerful weapon in the fight against COVID-19. “The Party Central Committee’s care for Wuhan and for Hubei is, in equal measure, care for the entire nation—and for us workers in the pharmaceutical industry. “General Secretary Xi has emphasized the need to maximize recovery rates and minimize mortality by accelerating the promotion and application of effective drugs that have already been developed and screened, thereby elevating the standard of medical treatment. At this critical juncture in the fight against the epidemic, these remarks from the General Secretary have greatly inspired us—scientific and technological professionals on the front lines of research and development.” Employees of the Shijiazhuang Sihua Pharmaceutical Research Institute, who bear the important responsibility of driving corporate innovation, stated that they will leverage their professional expertise to intensify research efforts and do their utmost to contribute to overcoming this epidemic. Recently, Dr. Sun Lijie, the institute’s director, has led his team in launching a new initiative to develop antiviral drugs, while also conducting a thorough review and adjustment of ongoing R&D projects. In parallel, they are stepping up follow-up studies on antiviral and antibiotic medications, as well as consistency evaluations for generic drugs, and carrying out retrospective analyses of relevant pharmaceuticals to provide valuable clinical evidence for combating the epidemic.

During his inspection, General Secretary Xi Jinping emphasized the need to adopt differentiated strategies while strengthening prevention and control measures, and to resume work and production in an orderly manner—by region and level, by type and schedule, and under appropriate conditions. This directive applies not only to Hubei Province and Wuhan City, but to the entire country. According to Wu Hengyao, the company’s general manager, all workshops have now fully returned to normal operations, and the enterprise is operating at full capacity to meet market demand. “General Secretary Xi Jinping’s remarks have provided a clear direction for manufacturing enterprises. We will seize every moment, make the most of our time, and contribute the efforts of the employees of Siyao to achieving dual victories: in epidemic prevention and control, and in economic and social development,” he said.
