Shijiazhuang Sihua Pharmaceutical Donates Arbidol Hydrochloride Capsules and Novel-Concept Disinfectant to Frontline Anti-Epidemic Efforts

At a critical juncture in epidemic prevention and control, Shijiazhuang Sihua Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. donated 4,800 boxes of Arbidol Hydrochloride Capsules (Ainuoda), valued at RMB 330,000, and 2,400 bottles of New Concept Composite Quaternary Ammonium Salt Disinfectant to the Hebei Provincial Red Cross Society. At 3:00 p.m. on January 18, these supplies were dispatched to 10 large and medium-sized hospitals across the province to support frontline anti-epidemic efforts.
“This outbreak has occurred right on our doorstep, and as a local enterprise, we feel an even greater responsibility to do our part in the fight against the epidemic,” said Su Xuejun, Chairman of Shijiazhuang Sihua Pharmaceutical. Over the past few days, while diligently ensuring the clinical supply of anti-epidemic medications to more than 4,000 large and medium-sized hospitals across the country—particularly in our province and in Shijiazhuang—the company has been deeply concerned about the safety and well-being of medical workers on the front lines and of patients battling the virus. This batch of supplies will be distributed as quickly as possible to ten major and medium-sized hospitals, including the Provincial Chest Hospital, the Second Provincial Hospital, the Third Municipal Hospital of Shijiazhuang, the Fifth Municipal Hospital of Shijiazhuang, the First Hospital of Xinji City, the Third Municipal Hospital of Hengshui, the People’s Hospital of Dingzhou City, the Third Municipal Hospital of Chengde, and the Infectious Diseases Hospital of Cangzhou, to safeguard the lives and health of medical personnel and ensure effective treatment for patients.
At the scene of the discovery, Sun Lijie, Executive President of Shijiazhuang Sihua Pharmaceutical and General Manager of its R&D Center, introduced that Arbidol Hydrochloride Capsules (Ainuoda) is a broad-spectrum antiviral drug that inhibits viral fusion with host cell membranes, thereby blocking viral replication within the body. It exerts a dual mechanism of action by inducing interferon production and modulating the body’s immune function. The drug is primarily indicated for upper respiratory tract infections caused by influenza A and B viruses, among others. Developed by the former Soviet Union’s Research Center for Medicinal Chemistry, it was first launched in Russia in 1993. Since last year’s fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, it has been widely used in clinical practice across multiple provinces, including Hubei, Zhejiang, and Xinjiang, demonstrating positive effects in reducing infection rates and alleviating patient symptoms, and has thus garnered significant attention from industry experts. Arbidol has been included by the National Health Commission in the “Diagnosis and Treatment Protocol for Novel Coronavirus Pneumonia (Trial Versions 6, 7, and 8)” as an antiviral therapeutic agent.
Viruses are merciless, but humanity is full of love. Shijiazhuang No. 4 Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., with a profound sense of responsibility for the nation’s vital interests, has proactively stepped up and taken action. Following the outbreak of COVID-19 early last year, it was among the first pharmaceutical companies in the province to dispatch aid to Wuhan and Hubei Province. The company has since supplied antiviral and antibacterial emergency medications—including arbidol hydrochloride capsules and moxifloxacin hydrochloride injection—to designated hospitals and makeshift hospitals in Wuhan, as well as to the Shennongjia Forestry District, while also donating more than RMB 3 million in cash and materials.
