Guo Jianting, a member of the Standing Committee of the Municipal Party Committee and head of the Publicity Department and the United Front Work Department, presided over the symposium and provided an overview of the 2023 “Touching the Provincial Capital” Top Ten Individuals selection event and the achievements of the winners. During the meeting, representatives of the 2023 “Touching the Provincial Capital” Top Ten Individuals—Zhang Jun, Feng Wei, Wei Saili, Sun Licai, Gu Haitao, and others—delivered speeches, sharing their personal experiences and heartfelt reflections, which deeply moved everyone in attendance.
Zhang Chaochao, on behalf of the Municipal Party Committee, the Municipal Government, and the city’s more than 11 million residents, extended warm congratulations and profound respect to the individuals and groups honored. He stated that the “Touching the Provincial Capital” figures and collectives have, through their concrete actions, written a vivid chapter in the practice of socialist core values, demonstrated a fine spirit of “achieving prosperity through hard work and taking responsibility when no one else will,” and set a benchmark and role model for Party members, cadres, and the general public throughout the city.
Zhang Chaochao pointed out that in 2023, we thoroughly studied and implemented the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important speeches and instructions. Under the strong leadership of the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial Government, we kept his instructions firmly in mind, remained grateful and motivated to forge ahead, and simultaneously pursued high-quality industrial development and the goal of building a city that is both livable and conducive to business. As a result, economic development maintained steady progress while striving for further improvement, sustaining a favorable momentum of stable yet rapid growth; the city’s appeal continued to rise, significantly enhancing Shijiazhuang’s reputation and influence; people’s wellbeing became even more pronounced, with growing feelings of fulfillment, happiness, and security among the general public; and the development environment continued to improve, as the “Shijiazhuang Speed,” “Shijiazhuang Warmth,” and “Shijiazhuang Strength” brands gained widespread recognition, marking solid strides in building a modern, international, and beautiful provincial capital. This year marks the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, a pivotal year for achieving the goals and tasks set forth in the 14th Five-Year Plan, and also the final sprint—and decisive year—for our city to surpass the RMB 1 trillion mark in economic output and overtake others by taking a shortcut. To fully implement the major decisions of the Party Central Committee and the arrangements made by the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial Government, we need the concerted efforts of the entire city, as well as more role models to lead and inspire all residents.
Zhang Chaochao expressed the hope that all the selected individuals will cherish this honor, forge ahead with courage, set an exemplary and leading example, continue to influence, inspire, and motivate those around them, and thereby inject greater spiritual impetus and vitality into the construction and development of Shijiazhuang. All Party members and cadres should take the “Touching Provincial Capital” role models as their guides, work diligently and strive for innovation, shoulder heavy responsibilities and step up to the plate in the city’s high-quality development, and endeavor to deliver a remarkable performance in our own leg of the race.
