On March 20, benztropine mesylate, submitted by Hebei Guangxiang Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. of Shijiazhuang Sihua Pharmaceutical Group, was approved by the National Medical Products Administration and registered as an active pharmaceutical ingredient for use in marketed dosage forms. This marks the fifth new API variety approved for the group so far this year.
On March 20, benzysergide hydrochloride, submitted by Hebei Guangxiang Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. of Shijiazhuang Sihua Pharmaceutical Group, was approved by the National Medical Products Administration and registered as an active pharmaceutical ingredient for use in marketed dosage forms. This marks the fifth new API variety approved for the group so far this year.
According to available information, benzserazine hydrochloride is a decarboxylase inhibitor that can be combined with levodopa to form the combination preparation benserazide hydrochloride tablets. These tablets are primarily indicated for the treatment of Parkinson’s disease and symptomatic Parkinsonian syndromes (post-encephalitic, arteriosclerotic, or toxic), but not for drug-induced Parkinsonian syndromes.
Prior to this, the group has successively obtained approval this year for four new active pharmaceutical ingredients: lidocaine hydrochloride, rasagiline mesylate, isoprenaline hydrochloride, and norepinephrine bitartrate, bringing its total number of API varieties to 51. This expansion has further diversified the product portfolio and is gradually emerging as a new competitive advantage for the company’s business development.
