The “China Pharmaceutical Industry Development Report (2025)” is compiled under the auspices of the China Association for Chemical Pharmaceutical Industry, with Hu Jianwei and Wen Zaixing serving as chief editors and Pan Guangcheng and Qu Jiguang as executive editors. This blue book has been published annually by the Social Sciences Academic Press for eight consecutive years and, in 2025, was included in the Research Series on Chinese Modernization—Think Tank Series.
The Blue Book, “China Pharmaceutical Industry Development Report (2025),” was compiled under the guidance of relevant departments of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the National Health Commission, and the National Medical Products Administration, and organized by the China Association for Pharmaceutical Industry. It brings together experts and scholars from both inside and outside the industry to provide an in-depth analysis of the new developments and innovative advancements in emerging technological fields within China’s biopharmaceutical sector. The report also examines the economic performance of China’s pharmaceutical industry in 2024 and offers a comprehensive overview of the industry’s development from multiple perspectives, including policy and regulatory frameworks, industry trends, the pharmaceutical market, technological innovation, and green pharmaceutical manufacturing.
At the same time, the Blue Book offers a forward-looking outlook on the macro trends shaping the industry through 2025 and beyond. The year 2025 marks both the concluding year of the 14th Five-Year Plan and the year for formulating and laying out the 15th Five-Year Plan. The pharmaceutical manufacturing sector must accelerate structural adjustment and transformation and upgrading, embrace digital transformation and intelligent modernization, strengthen coordination of regulatory policies, promote corporate mergers and reorganizations, enhance product quality, pursue high-level opening-up, cultivate international competitive advantages, and achieve high-quality development.
The report “Current Status and Prospects of Integrated API-Formulation Development in China,” authored by Shi Jianhui of the Group, is included in the industry development section of this report.
