The director and staff of the disinfectant production line in Workshop 102 at Shijiazhuang No. 4 Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. are deeply worried: what should be done?"
On January 28, the fourth day of the first lunar month, Mi Junqing, Director of Workshop 103 at Shijiazhuang Sihua Pharmaceutical High-tech Industrial Park, upon hearing the news, volunteered to provide support. He immediately conducted a detailed analysis of the disinfectant production capacity overnight and began devising and designing a renovation plan.
The New Concept Disinfectant is a composite quaternary ammonium salt disinfectant produced by Shisi Pharmaceutical, intended for routine disinfection and protection in medical institutions, pharmaceutical and food-processing enterprises, and households. Under normal circumstances, production capacity is generally aligned with demand.
Since the outbreak of the novel coronavirus–associated pneumonia, demand for hygiene, disinfection, and protective supplies has surged. Despite more than 150 employees working overtime around the clock, it remains difficult to meet market demand. Consequently, how to improve equipment efficiency has quickly become a major challenge for Workshop 102 at Shisi Pharmaceutical.
“The epidemic is an order, and ensuring supply is our responsibility. ‘I am a Communist Party member, and it is my duty to take the lead,’” says Mi Junqing, who has been a Party member for eight years. Since the fourth day of the Lunar New Year, he has worked around the clock, tirelessly modifying and commissioning filling machines and conveyor belts. “It’s not for any other reason—just to produce one more bottle of disinfectant. Every extra bottle means greater protection of everyone’s health and greater confidence in our ability to defeat the epidemic,” he declares firmly, his voice hoarse with exhaustion.
From the filling machine to the conveyor belt, and from the conveyor belt to the bottling line, he conducted dozens of repetitive mechanical trials, time and again. Faced with the technical challenges involved, he meticulously analyzed each issue, often working straight through without taking a break or even a sip of water. After two days and two nights of intense modifications, the filling machine was successfully upgraded. “Moving from manual filling every day to automated machine filling has not only effectively ensured both quality and output, but has also boosted daily disinfectant production from 10,000 bottles to 40,000 bottles today, resulting in significant improvements in efficiency and on-site operations.”
Now, whenever the leaders of Shisi Pharmaceutical and the employees of Workshop 102 see him, they give him a thumbs-up. “As long as I can do my part to fight the epidemic, a little fatigue and hard work mean nothing! After all, I’m a Party member—this is what I should do,” he says with genuine sincerity.
