Since the all-out battle to contain and combat the epidemic was launched, the Party committees of the eight primary-level Party branches under Shijiazhuang Sihua Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd.—comprising 204 Communist Party members—have steadfastly upheld their original aspirations and bravely shouldered their mission on the front lines of epidemic prevention and production, displaying a spirited fighting posture. With their passion and concrete actions, they have erected one robust defensive barrier after another, ensuring that the Party flag flies high at the frontline of containment and that the Party badge shines brightly in every post.

Upholding “hardcore” responsibility: stepping up where it’s needed most

On the afternoon of the 30th day of the twelfth lunar month, Han Shuqin, Deputy General Manager of Shisi Pharmaceutical, had just wrapped up a busy day’s final tasks and was preparing to head home to reunite with her family when she suddenly received an urgent call from Chairman Su Xuejun: “The COVID-19 situation in Hubei is extremely severe. We urgently need to mobilize supplies such as Arbidol and moxifloxacin infusion solutions. Current inventory levels are low, and the production lines must be restarted tomorrow. Everyone, please return to your posts as soon as possible—this is the company’s responsibility, and there can be no room for ambiguity!”

The epidemic is an order; ensuring safety is our responsibility.

Having weathered the challenges of SARS and H1N1, Han Shuqin now deeply understands the critical importance of emergency preparedness and support. She promptly picked up the phone and issued a call to action to the relevant workshop supervisors, rallying them to resume production in the fight against the epidemic.

On the first day of the Lunar New Year, the streets of Shijiazhuang, the provincial capital, were eerily empty. She bid farewell to her family early in the morning and braved the mist to report for duty. As on any other day, her movements were swift and efficient. “Stepping up production,” she said, “is tantamount to fighting the disease and racing against death—we simply can’t afford to slow down.”

As she stepped into Workshop 102, she was instantly stunned: Communist Party members Rong Yanyan, Tian Lili, Yang Junhong, Wang Xiaohua, and Meng Lingyu were already fully geared up and making final preparations to begin work. At that very moment, her eyes welled up with tears. “This is what our Party members are like—always stepping up when it matters most!”

Since production resumed, Workshop 102 has become the busiest in the entire company, operating on two shifts with workers rotating while the equipment runs continuously; current daily output has nearly doubled compared with normal days. “The more intense the competition, the greater the test for an individual.”

“At a time like this, if we Party members don’t step up, who will?” On January 29, Rong Yanyan, a Communist Party member and director of Workshop 102 who had been working continuously for many days, spoke with a slightly hoarse voice.

Since the outbreak began, she has put aside family reunions, entrusting her young child to her mother-in-law’s care and promptly reporting to work to oversee production.

Since production resumed on January 25, despite being six months pregnant, she has worked overtime alongside her colleagues every day, maintaining continuous operation for more than ten consecutive days. “With Party members setting the example, I certainly can’t lag behind!”

At the disinfectant production station, the packaging process is still carried out manually, requiring workers to bend over for long periods. By the end of a shift, many are left with sore backs and aching legs—but not a single Party member on duty has complained of hardship or fatigue. “The more we put in, the greater everyone’s confidence in overcoming the epidemic will be,” they say.

“Witnessing the selfless and fearless dedication of our Party members has profoundly reinforced my sense of duty and mission as a pharmaceutical professional,” said Gu Yongjun, a young worker in the production workshop, eagerly expressing his desire to join the Party.

This is a war without smoke, yet it serves as a crucial battleground for testing the consciousness and guiding principles of Party members. At Shisiyao, the vast majority of Party members regard dedicating themselves to the front lines of epidemic prevention and control and production as the touchstone and sharpening stone for upholding their original aspiration and mission and demonstrating their sense of responsibility and commitment. Wherever there are difficulties or dangers, you will find Communist Party members stepping forward.

During this extraordinary time in the fight against the epidemic, the Storage and Transportation Department of Shisi Pharmaceutical has transformed from a business-support function into the front line of emergency supply efforts to bolster frontline prevention and control. Faced with the urgent demand for medications at the front lines, Li Ligong, a Communist Party member and manager of the department, fully understands the critical importance of ensuring robust emergency logistics and storage support.

“During these extraordinary times, coordinating transportation—especially interprovincial shipments—presents numerous challenges. Every day feels like being on the brink of battle as we fight the epidemic, but we must give it our all.” Since the first day of the Lunar New Year, his busy figure has been a constant presence at the outbound logistics hub supporting frontline prevention and control efforts.

“He just can’t stay still—year in and year out, he’s always busy, and you hardly ever see him. He can’t even help with a thing at home. We’d hoped this Spring Festival holiday would give him a chance to spend some quality time with the kids, but then the pandemic hit. These days, our workplace simply can’t do without him, so he’s out early and back late, working from morning till night. Right now is the busiest time of year for a pharmaceutical company—saving lives comes first, and the whole family fully understands and supports him.” At that moment, Li Ligong’s wife, Li Hui, had tears welling up in her eyes.

“It is our duty to safeguard our territory, and we must fulfill that duty to the fullest.” Faced with the current dire situation in which securing even a single truck is extremely difficult, he tirelessly reached out to one logistics company after another for assistance. “Given the present circumstances—and with the Spring Festival just around the corner—coordinating transport capacity is indeed a significant challenge, so I have to pull out all the stops.” Over more than ten days of steadfast dedication, the Storage and Transportation Department dispatched over 30,000 shipments of pharmaceuticals to Wuhan and Enshi in Hubei Province, as well as to neighboring provinces and cities, successfully completing the first phase of the company’s emergency transportation support mission to deliver vital medicines to the front lines of epidemic prevention and control. The effort has earned high praise from clients, who have commended Shijiazhuang No. 4 Pharmaceutical for its outstanding transport support.

At this time, the storage and transportation posts are not only busy but also fraught with unknown risks, as they must interact daily with personnel and vehicles traveling to and from the hardest-hit areas of the epidemic.

“There’s no time to worry about all that—getting the goods to the front lines on time is the top priority.”

At this moment, his thoughts were less about his own safety and more about the urgent needs on the front lines of epidemic prevention and control and the safety of freight drivers.

At critical moments, Party members must not only take the lead and set an example but also show genuine care for the people and bring them warmth.

Every time before setting out, Li Ligong would provide the “going-against-the-flow” drivers with comprehensive protective gear and repeatedly urge them: “Once you reach your destination, don’t get out of the truck—stay put, don’t go anywhere, and just remain in the cab.” To ensure the drivers could enjoy a hot meal on the road, he even went out of his way to solicit portable stoves and gas canisters through his social media circles, using his warm-hearted concern to comfort these truck drivers who are constantly racing against time on the front lines of life—drivers who, despite having homes to return to, are unable to go there.

Racing against time and battling the virus requires the concerted efforts of everyone.

“I am a Communist Party member—until the epidemic recedes, I will not rest for a single day.” These resolute words and unwavering actions bear witness to the Communist Party members’ steadfast commitment and sense of responsibility. Yan Li, Deputy Manager of the Storage and Transportation Department at Shisi Pharmaceutical, who has also remained on duty for more than ten days, spoke with firm conviction.

In this race against time, Party members have each leveraged their strengths to lead the broad workforce on the front lines of epidemic prevention and control, forging the most formidable bulwark on the frontline of pandemic defense.

Abidor capsules and disinfectants are in short supply, with demand surging and upstream raw materials becoming scarce. Faced with the severe shortage of epidemic prevention and control supplies, Shisi Pharmaceutical has made every possible effort to mobilize personnel and resources, operate at full capacity, and do its utmost to ensure adequate supply.

On one hand, there is the urgent demand on the front lines of epidemic prevention and control; on the other, production equipment that is hampered by constraints. The contradiction between the supply and demand for disinfectants is becoming increasingly acute. Despite more than 150 employees at the disinfectant production line in Workshop 102 working overtime around the clock, it remains difficult to meet market demand. Everyone is deeply concerned—what can be done?

On January 28, the fourth day of the first lunar month, Mi Junqing, director of Workshop 103 at Shijiazhuang Sihua Pharmaceutical High-tech Industrial Park, upon hearing the news, volunteered to provide support and spent the entire night devising and designing a renovation plan.

“I am a Communist Party member, and it is my duty to take the lead,” he said firmly in a hoarse voice. Mi Junqing, a Party member with eight years of membership, has been tirelessly modifying and commissioning filling machines and conveyor belts around the clock since the fourth day of the first lunar month.

From the filling machine to the conveyor belt, and from the conveyor belt to the racing machine—repeated tests were conducted dozens of times, over and over again. Faced with one obstacle after another during the renovation, he devoted himself wholeheartedly to meticulous troubleshooting, never giving up. When tired, he would sit right on the floor; when hungry, he’d quickly gobble down a steamed bun. After two straight days and nights of intense work, the filling machine renovation was finally a success!

“The disinfectant production line’s capacity has increased from 10,000 bottles per day to 40,000 bottles today, boosting efficiency and dramatically improving the production environment—all thanks to Xiaomi.”

Faced with praise, he said calmly, “As long as I can do my part to fight the epidemic, a little fatigue and hardship mean nothing! I’m a Party member—this is what I should do.”

Like Mi Junqing, Yang Junhong, a Communist Party member and deputy director of Workshop 102, took the lead in the integrated line renovation of the Arbidol production line, demonstrating exceptional courage and capability as a woman.

“A Party member is a banner,” rallying tens of millions of the masses and broadly consolidating the confidence and strength needed to win the battle of containment.

During the Spring Festival, core R&D personnel—including Communist Party members Sun Lijie and Yin Jie—all reported for duty and stepped up efforts to initiate projects aimed at developing new drugs against the novel coronavirus and conducting consistency evaluations of antiviral injectable formulations. They work more than ten hours a day, racing against time to stay ahead of the virus.

Since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, the extensive team of researchers at Shisi Pharmaceutical has sprung into action, fully leveraging their professional expertise to actively engage in emergency scientific and technological research aimed at epidemic prevention and control. Their efforts have provided robust intellectual and technical support for the fight against the pandemic, thereby demonstrating the sense of responsibility and commitment of outstanding talent.

To win the battle of containment, it is equally important to uphold prevention and control measures and to accelerate production and R&D.

During this period, Liu Yongzhong, a Communist Party member and deputy manager of the Security Department at Shisiyao Pharmaceutical, has been conducting routine inspections at all company checkpoints to ensure that epidemic prevention and control measures are being properly implemented. Whenever he has a spare moment, he also straps on a sprayer weighing more than 20 jin to disinfect vehicles entering the factory. “Preventing the virus from spreading within the company and from outside into the company—getting this first line of defense wrong would be dereliction of duty,” he says.

Since the first day of the Lunar New Year, Communist Party member Huang Xiaofeng has been on the front lines, tirelessly engaging in employee awareness-raising on epidemic prevention and control as well as psychological counseling. Inspired by his dedication, reporters Wu Yuqing and Lü Wencong have also wholeheartedly joined the main battlefield of enterprise epidemic prevention and production, using their pens and cameras to convey confidence and resilience.
