Recently, a unique remote bidding conference was held in the video conference room of Shijiazhuang Sihua Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. Inside the room, only a handful of staff from the company’s equipment and other relevant departments, along with members of the Commission for Discipline Inspection, were seated at spaced intervals. Meanwhile, large display screens on the walls simultaneously presented bid information from each participating bidder, creating a tense yet well-organized atmosphere at the bidding site.
“According to the company’s development plan, we have numerous new projects and extensive upgrades and renovations this year. Just as we were gearing up to roll up our sleeves and go all out, we were caught off guard by this sudden outbreak,” said Liu Miao, head of the Equipment Department.
The pandemic has not halted the development of Shijiazhuang No. 4 Pharmaceutical. To effectively balance epidemic prevention and control with the resumption of work and production, the company has taken a proactive, self-reliant approach, coordinating all related efforts in an integrated manner, promptly addressing obstacles and challenges that impede resumption, and leveraging the robust capabilities of “Internet Plus” to shift from traditional face-to-face interactions to screen-to-screen communication. Through video conferencing, online recruitment platforms, WeChat groups, and other digital tools, the company has streamlined operations, enhanced efficiency, and ensured that both epidemic prevention and transparent procurement are fully implemented.
“We have fully implemented online bid opening and tendering, eliminating the need for paper-based tender documents; we have fully adopted remote, online evaluation, implementing a ‘1+N’ model of remote collaborative bid assessment that enables off-site evaluation and real-time online collaboration; we have comprehensively strengthened compliance safeguards by assigning discipline inspection personnel to conduct on-site supervision; and we have rigorously reinforced epidemic prevention and control measures to reduce personnel movement and ensure health and safety,” said Liu Miao. “These ‘four comprehensives’ have made our pre-project preparation work more efficient and smoother.”
It’s spring recruitment season once again. With Shijiazhuang No. 4 Pharmaceutical fully resuming production, the demand for production staff is steadily rising; meanwhile, the company’s newly commissioned Pharmaceutical Research Institute is also in urgent need of a large pool of scientific and technological talent. “In previous years, we relied on attending various on-site recruitment events to hire staff. This year, however, we’ve adopted an ‘online’ recruitment approach, conducting interviews and discussions with candidates via video conferencing. These measures have enabled us to engage in ‘no-contact’ negotiations with job seekers.” Every day, the first thing Yuan Bingqiang, Deputy Manager of the Human Resources Department, does upon arriving at work is to log into the online video-recruitment platform and software. He jokes, “I, the recruitment manager, am practically becoming a popular livestreamer now!” According to him, since March 2, the Shijiazhuang Municipal Bureau of Human Resources and Social Security has been hosting a month-long “Large-Scale Online Job Fair for Enterprises Resuming Work and Production in Shijiazhuang,” and Shijiazhuang No. 4 Pharmaceutical’s HR department has actively leveraged this government platform by setting up a dedicated recruitment zone and establishing virtual interview rooms to conduct online exchanges and discussions with candidates.
It is not only corporate recruiters but also universities and graduates who are actively adapting to the “Internet Plus” model. To facilitate connections between graduates and employers, major university platforms have established dedicated sections to publish company recruitment needs, making it easier for graduates to submit their resumes. According to reports, in order to attract more high-caliber talent, Shisi Pharmaceutical has already posted job openings at several top domestic pharmaceutical institutions, including Shenyang Pharmaceutical University and China Pharmaceutical University, allowing graduates to apply directly and prepare in advance for online interviews.
“‘Cloud services’ are highly popular at our company; in addition to online tendering and recruitment, departments such as sales, R&D, and production also conduct daily office operations via web conferencing,” said Wang Yang, Equipment Manager at the Information Center of Shijiazhuang No. 4 Pharmaceutical. “‘Meeting in the cloud’ will become increasingly commonplace going forward.”
