To recognize the outstanding contributions of exemplary young people to economic and social development, to showcase the spirit, character, and values of youth in the new era, and to inspire team organizations at all levels across the district and the broad ranks of League members and young people to carry forward the May Fourth Spirit and bravely shoulder their historic responsibilities, the Office of the CPC Committee of the Communist Youth League in Gaocheng District, Shijiazhuang City, issued the “Decision on the May Fourth Commendations” on April 29. Among the recipients, the company’s volunteer vanguard team supporting Production Workshop No. 102 in the manufacture of anti-epidemic medicines was awarded the title of “Outstanding Young Volunteer Collective”; Ji Rongxin was awarded the title of “Young Skilled Worker”; and Ma Nannan was awarded the title of “Outstanding League Affairs Worker.”
The outbreak of COVID-19 struck like a giant boulder, disrupting the tranquility of people’s lives. In response to the urgent demand for medications on the front lines of epidemic prevention and control, Shijiazhuang No. 4 Pharmaceutical immediately joined this war without gunfire, overcoming every challenge to ramp up production of antiviral drugs and disinfectant supplies around the clock, and swiftly dispatching these critical resources to Hubei and other frontline areas.
Due to the outbreak occurring around the Spring Festival, enterprises faced numerous challenges, including shortages of manpower, transportation capacity, and raw and auxiliary materials. Yet the epidemic is a command, and ensuring supply is our responsibility; the company must overcome all obstacles and devote itself wholeheartedly to production and supply assurance. It was at this critical moment that a volunteer “vanguard team” stepped forward—members from different workshops and roles, united by a common goal: to rally in Workshop 102 for Oral Preparations. Following the company’s urgent assignment to produce medicines for epidemic prevention and control, they volunteered without hesitation and bravely rushed to the front lines of production. Among them are newly hired employees who have only recently joined the workforce, as well as young mothers with small children. Regardless of their usual roles, they have all transformed into courageous “combat warriors,” dedicating themselves fully to the battle to ensure the production of epidemic-prevention medications and disinfectants, sparing no effort to make their due contribution to winning the crucial fight against the pandemic.
Since late January, this volunteer vanguard team has been tirelessly working on the production lines of Workshop 102, stepping in wherever difficulties arise. “Thanks to our vanguard team, we have been able to complete our supply-assurance tasks on time, with guaranteed quality and quantity,” said Rong Yanyan, director of Workshop 102, visibly moved. By the end of March, thanks to the concerted efforts of all employees at Shijiazhuang No. 4 Pharmaceutical, the company had dispatched more than 20 truckloads of emergency medicines to Wuhan, Hubei Province, including 3.962 million capsules of Arbidol Hydrochloride and over 500,000 bottles (or bags) of intravenous solutions such as Moxifloxacin Hydrochloride Sodium Chloride Injection. In addition, the company donated emergency relief medicines worth RMB 2.57 million to Wuhan, Hubei, the Shennongjia Forestry District, and other areas. These efforts ensured the successful fulfillment of the national emergency drug-supply mandate and contributed significantly to achieving dual victories in epidemic prevention and control and in economic and social development.
In 2012, Ji Rongxin, a graduate student, joined Shijiazhuang No. 4 Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. on her first day of work, she immediately immersed herself in the production floor, taking up a position in the batching department. Adhering to a diligent, inquisitive, and reflective work ethic—constantly learning, asking questions, taking notes, and thinking critically—she meticulously studied production processes and operating procedures. Over the course of seven years, she steadily advanced from an entry-level production worker to become a workshop supervisor.
After assuming the role of workshop director, Ji Rongxin realized that she was leading a team of nearly 300 employees with widely varying levels of knowledge and competence. She came to understand that superior operational skills and quality management alone were simply not enough; robust managerial capabilities were also essential. To address this, she simultaneously familiarized herself with the personnel in each position within the workshop while quietly studying various management principles. Following a period of trial and error, she refined the workshop’s performance evaluation system, implementing a clear rewards-and-penalties framework that balanced strict discipline with compassionate guidance, thereby fostering a positive and motivated work environment. As a result, the workshop under her leadership consistently ranks at the top in all technical performance assessments.
In addition to effectively managing the workshop, Ji Rongxin is also a recognized innovator. He has actively engaged in technological upgrades and innovations aimed at addressing key technical bottlenecks in cost reduction, energy conservation and emission reduction, safe production, and operational efficiency, successfully overcoming one technical challenge after another. Over the past few years, he has submitted a total of 53 proposals for process improvements and minor modifications, generating direct value of more than RMB 200,000 for the company.
“It is a great honor to be recognized as an Outstanding Youth League Worker. This accolade is not only a source of pride but also a powerful incentive.” On Ma Nannan’s desk, several now-empty notebooks stand out conspicuously. They are filled with meticulous study notes; though the pages have yellowed with age, the handwriting remains crisp and legible.
In the eyes of her colleagues, Ma Nannan is a true “workaholic,” never shirking any task and always staying until she has fully completed that day’s assignments before heading home. She has always held deep affection for the workforce, approaching every issue and undertaking with the unwavering commitment to safeguard their interests. Through her words and actions and with a heart of genuine sincerity, she ensures that employees feel the warmth of the Four Pharmaceutical Family.
To inspire the work enthusiasm of young League members, and in light of the specific characteristics of the enterprise’s operations, Ma Nannan, under the leadership and support of the Party Committee and the trade union, has actively organized a wide range of cultural and sports activities for young employees: arranging social and friendship events for young, single staff; establishing employee innovation studios to stimulate a spirit of innovation and contribute to the enterprise’s efforts in energy conservation and consumption reduction; and conducting annual year-end summary and evaluation activities to recognize model individuals, identify outstanding talent, and enhance the appeal and influence of the League organization, thereby striving to serve as a capable assistant to the organization.
Ma Nannan, who has been engaged in youth league work for five years, has consistently held herself to rigorous standards, demonstrating a proactive spirit and a pragmatic approach. She is bold in exploration and pioneering, contributing her meticulous attention to detail and professional expertise to the cause of youth league work, and has steadily grown into a seasoned expert in corporate youth league management through continuous practice.
