“The First Lesson Upon Commencement”—Safety in Production, Now On!

At 5:30 p.m. on March 15, Liu Jie, Deputy Manager of the Safety Department at Shijiazhuang Sihua Pharmaceutical Group, posted the livestream link for the “First Lesson of the New Work Year” in the company’s WeChat work group, officially ringing the “class start bell” for employees. Employees promptly tuned in during their off-hours to attend this virtual classroom session.
The “First Lesson After Work Commencement” lecture series is organized by the Hebei Provincial Safety Committee Office and the Hebei Provincial Emergency Management Department. The lectures are divided into modules covering the general curriculum, the hazardous chemicals industry, the non-coal mining industry, the industrial and commercial trade sector, and the coal industry. They are delivered in the form of pre-recorded video broadcasts and simultaneously aired on platforms such as the “Hebei Provincial Emergency Management” WeChat official account and the Hebei Daily mobile app.
This online classroom session was highly targeted, with the keynote lecture delivered by Dong Chengwen, Director of the Institute for Safety Culture at the Publicity and Education Center of the Ministry of Emergency Management. He addressed three key themes: “Striving to Enhance Safety Awareness and Taking the First Step Toward Safe Production,” “Firmly Upholding the Concept of Safe Development and Setting the Course for Safe Production,” and “Vigorously Cultivating a Safety Culture to Build Soft Power for Safe Production.”
“This main course is highly targeted and easy to understand, fostering genuine emotional resonance among frontline employees, enhancing their awareness of workplace safety, and providing valuable insights for both the company and its workforce.” After watching the “First Lesson of the New Year” main session, Wei Wenliang, Executive President of Shijiazhuang Fourth Pharmaceutical Group, discussed the company’s safety culture development with his colleagues in the Safety Department. “We will, in accordance with the Three-Year Action Plan and our annual policy objectives, vigorously promote safety culture building at the team level, continue to conduct comprehensive safety training across all areas, and launch ‘Employees Talk Safety’ initiatives at appropriate times—encouraging employees to prepare their own materials, gather relevant information, and share real-world case studies. This approach not only boosts audience engagement but also heightens the presenter’s sense of responsibility and vigilance.”
To ensure effective viewing, the Hebei Provincial Work Safety Committee Office has mandated that all personnel at every production and business entity across the province must watch the main “First Lesson of the New Year” session. In addition, all employees in industries such as hazardous chemicals, coal mining, non-coal mines, and commerce and trade are required to not only watch the main session but also separately view the industry-specific “First Lesson of the New Year” tailored to their respective sectors. Local authorities and relevant departments throughout the province have actively organized and issued advance notices, requiring designated entities to tune in to the lecture on time.
