Embarking on a new journey with confident strides and setting sail once more. On the morning of May 28, the auditorium of the Shijiazhuang Sihua Pharmaceutical Group Research and Development Center was filled with a warm and solemn atmosphere as the Group’s R&D Center held its 2022 First-Quarter Summary and Awards Conference, themed “Summarizing Achievements, Commending Outstanding Performers, and Re-deploying Future Initiatives.” Representatives of the Group’s R&D professionals gathered alongside Qu Jiguang, Chairman of the Board; Su Xuejun, Chairman; Shi Jianhui, Secretary of the Party Committee; Sun Lijie, Executive President, and other senior leaders to review the R&D and innovation milestones achieved so far this year, analyze and assess the industry’s development trends, map out priorities for future research efforts, and further advance the Group’s high-quality development to a new level and achieve new breakthroughs. The conference was chaired by Wang Lijiang, Executive Deputy General Manager of the Group’s R&D Center.

At the meeting, the heads of the R&D Center’s Solid Dosage Forms Research Institute, Liquid Dosage Forms Research Institute, Innovative Drug Research Institute, Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient Research Institute, and Medical Center presented reports on their work progress from January to May and outlined key priorities for the period ahead. Group leaders Qu Jiguang, Su Xuejun, Sun Lijie, and others provided feedback on the progress of priority research projects and offered suggestions for improvement.

Sun Lijie, Group Executive President and General Manager of the R&D Center, provided a comprehensive summary of the new achievements made in the Group’s R&D and innovation efforts during the first quarter of this year. He objectively analyzed the challenges and opportunities ahead and put forward specific improvement measures and requirements aimed at further enhancing the quality and pace of research projects, strengthening talent development and recruitment, and refining the performance appraisal system.

The conference announced the lists of outstanding contributors, advancing employees, and exemplary departments and divisions within the R&D Center. The representatives of the honored individuals and collectives confidently took to the podium and received certificates or trophies from Group leaders Qu Jiguang, Su Xuejun, and Shi Jianhui, prompting enthusiastic applause from the entire audience in celebration. Cui Xuemei, representing the advanced individuals recognized, delivered a speech at the conference on behalf of her department, the Liquid Preparations Division No. 2.

Qu Jiguang, Chairman of the Board, extended his congratulations to the outstanding collectives and individuals honored, and expressed his heartfelt respect and sincere gratitude to all research personnel for their arduous efforts and positive contributions in advancing the enterprise’s innovative, high-quality development. He pointed out that, since the beginning of this year, all research staff have worked diligently and selflessly, putting the interests of the company above personal gain, and have achieved remarkable R&D results. From January to May this year, a total of 24 projects were submitted, including six active pharmaceutical ingredient varieties, five solid dosage form varieties comprising seven specifications, and ten liquid dosage form varieties comprising eleven specifications; of these, 16 projects have been approved. These new products have effectively facilitated the optimization and upgrading of the company’s product portfolio, significantly enhanced the company’s industry image and market position, and bolstered its confidence and resilience in facing future challenges. These historic developments fully demonstrate that Sihua Pharmaceutical now boasts an innovative team that is bold, tenacious, and determined to achieve victory—one capable of shouldering the critical mission of driving the company’s leapfrog growth and catching up with industry leaders. Whether measured by the size of the R&D workforce, the development of talent at all levels, the innovation-driven institutional mechanisms, or the outcomes of research and development, Sihua Pharmaceutical has attained historic achievements and undergone transformative changes, delivering results that have earned widespread recognition from the industry.

Qu Jiguang pointed out that the Group has reached a critical juncture in its transformation and upgrading, standing at a new historical position and inflection point. New opportunities and challenges have entrusted R&D and technology professionals with an even more arduous yet glorious mission and set of tasks. He urged that R&D efforts must be closely aligned with national strategies and market demands, with the development of new varieties becoming more targeted and grounded in practical needs; that we must move beyond “mass manpower tactics” and adopt a “lean, elite-force approach,” leveraging innovation across the industrial chain to shift researchers’ innovation capabilities from imitation and manufacturing toward exploration and discovery; that we should make full use of all resources created by the enterprise—skillfully leveraging external support, expertise, intelligence, and momentum—to overtake competitors by taking strategic shortcuts, thereby accelerating project development, talent cultivation, and the commercialization of research outcomes and elevating the enterprise’s innovative development to a new level; that, based on real-world innovation practices, we should continuously refine fundamental reforms such as project and research-topic evaluation systems and talent appraisal mechanisms, ensuring that leading scientific and technological talents who are motivated, capable, and deliver results take the helm and spearhead initiatives, so that those who make genuine contributions can enjoy both recognition and rewards; and that we must summon greater courage to transform R&D mechanisms, reform work styles, enhance capabilities, grant the Research Institute greater authority over technical roadmap decisions, and provide it with greater autonomy in profit-sharing, enabling R&D personnel to generate more innovative achievements and ensuring that these achievements benefit them directly.

Young people are the most energetic, enterprising, and least prone to conservatism. Qu Jiguang warmly encouraged the Group’s vast ranks of R&D personnel, urging them to maintain their relentless drive and unwavering enthusiasm, to remain humble and modest, to bravely shoulder their missions and responsibilities, and to strive to realize their ambitions and make outstanding contributions to the enterprise’s development—so that the flowers of youth may bloom in vibrant splendor on the journey of scientific research and innovation, truly living up to the precious years of youth.

The summary and commendation conference greatly energized and inspired the R&D personnel, who unanimously pledged to proactively benchmark against leading peers, consciously strive for world-class standards, and adopt a relentless, “time-is-precious” mindset—embracing the spirit of hard work and the courage of pioneers—to tackle tough challenges, achieve new breakthroughs, and ensure the timely fulfillment of all annual innovation goals and tasks. They are committed to presenting fresh, innovative achievements as a meaningful gift to the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China.
