During their visit to Shisi Pharmaceutical Group, Shao Xudong and his delegation conducted an in-depth inspection of the company’s production facilities and R&D center in the Shiyao High-tech Industrial Park, thoroughly examining and gaining a comprehensive understanding of its operations, research and development activities, and industrial planning. They expressed high praise for the significant achievements Shisi Pharmaceutical Group has attained by seizing opportunities and leveraging innovation to drive high-quality development.
Wu Hengyao extended a warm welcome to Shao Xudong and his delegation, expressing gratitude for the longstanding attention, support, and assistance that the Pharmaceutical Economics Daily has consistently provided to the development of Sihua Pharmaceutical. He then gave a brief overview of the company’s growth. He stated that the biopharmaceutical industry in Shijiazhuang is now poised for the most favorable period of development in its history. Since last year, Sihua Pharmaceutical has actively responded to the decisions and arrangements made by the Shijiazhuang Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government to prioritize breakthroughs in the two pillar industries of next-generation information technology and biopharmaceuticals, with the goal of building industrial clusters each worth hundreds of billions of yuan. Seizing these opportunities, the company has focused on facilitating the dual circulation of domestic and international markets, leveraging its comparative advantages to build competitive strengths, aligning industrial chains with innovation chains, and accelerating its move up the value chain toward the mid- to high-end segments. Sihua Pharmaceutical has set its sights on the cutting edge of the industry and on market demand, clearly articulating an R&D strategy that combines generic drug development with innovative research, emphasizes distinctive features, and prioritizes key areas. Benefiting from a series of business-friendly policies introduced by Shijiazhuang to support the pioneering breakthroughs of the biopharmaceutical sector, Sihua Pharmaceutical has continuously built momentum and enhanced its capabilities for high-quality development, thereby forging new advantages and a new development paradigm characterized by the synergistic advancement of “formulations plus APIs.” By engaging in joint research initiatives with renowned domestic and international universities and research institutes and by adopting the “challenge-based recruitment” approach, Sihua Pharmaceutical has accelerated cutting-edge R&D and industrial deployment across key segments of the value chain, including specialty generics, specialty APIs, innovative medicines, and bio-diagnostic reagents. To date, Sihua Pharmaceutical has had 26 drug varieties—comprising a total of 35 dosage forms—approved under the National Evaluation of Quality and Therapeutic Equivalence for Generic Drugs, and eight varieties—covering 11 dosage forms—selected for national centralized drug procurement. These achievements have contributed significantly to improving drug accessibility, reducing the medication burden on the public, and supporting the Healthy China initiative. In the first six months of this year, Sihua Pharmaceutical secured approval for 22 new products, including China’s first generic version of buspirone tablets and acetaminophen-mannitol injection, surpassing last year’s total for the entire year. This marks the beginning of a concentrated “harvest period” for R&D and innovation, with the company now ranking among the leading enterprises in the national pharmaceutical industry in terms of both the efficiency and volume of specialty generic drug development. In the first half of this year, Sihua Pharmaceutical’s sales revenue and profits and taxes both posted double-digit growth, as its innovation chain, industrial chain, and value chain have mutually reinforced one another and advanced in tandem, providing powerful impetus for the company’s continued expansion.
Shao Xudong expressed his appreciation for the remarkable achievements Shijiazhuang Sihua Pharmaceutical Group has attained over the past two years. He noted that both his recent visit to the group’s headquarters and his participation, one month ago, in the listing ceremony for Sihua’s Bosheng Medical Devices on the Innovation Board—as well as the commissioning of its newly built biomembrane production line—left an exceptionally profound and positive impression.
