On September 27, entacapone submitted by Hebei Guangxiang Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Shijiazhuang Sihua Pharmaceutical Group, was approved by the National Medical Products Administration and registered as an active pharmaceutical ingredient for use in marketed dosage forms, making it the third such approval in China. Since the beginning of this year, the group has obtained approval for 12 new APIs and 45 production approvals for various new products.

It is reported that entacapone, as an adjunct to levodopa, is primarily used for the treatment of Parkinson’s disease.
